My first invasion map, Glockersburg v1.0

There is no story about it - just a remake of my favourite siege map in the original Stronghold game. Added lookout post east to castle, some ruins below it and a rocky mountain near the invasion point.

PaPaGaLa Yep it's good but you missed a hill in the South-West look the map beter and you will understand what you missed ;] =]

Playability: 2
The playability of this map was decent but not very good. This is due to the very small castle and the enemy who is only capable of attacking from one side. Next time you could live out a part of the moat so the invading army is capable of attacking from several sides. This will increase the balance a lot more. Also due to the small castle which can only be attacked from one side you just position your troops on the correct side ( the attacking side ) and just let the brainless enemy be slaughtered. Once positioned it is only triggering the pitch at the correct time and make your crossbowmen attack the pikeman that attack the tower. The map was too easy so work on that next time. I also checked out your map in the editor and noted that the catapults weren't build. Note that I catapult needs some space and safe place to be build, otherwise they won't be build.

Balance: 2.5
As I said before, the castle could only be attacked from one side and that had its impact on the AI. Also the moat wasn't a good solution. I strongly recommend using sea or river types of water due to the behaviour of the AI. Now a lot of spearmen didn't attack the castle wall but started filling up the moat. They were utterly useless and just a living projectile waited to be picked by one of my archers. Also one very big issue was the mangonels were able to fire into the spawning area at the signpost. Now even before the enemy started attacking a lot of my boulders hit the enemy. My advice to put the signpost more far away or increasing your mapsize. You can do that by pressing ALT + COMMA and selecting your desired mapsize. Make it a lot harder next time, and you can even ask some people on this site to playtest your map. I would like to refer to the forum.

Creativity: 3
I think the idea of making a map that already was in the original Stronghold is surely creative. The creativity shouldn't be supressed by the fact that such map already excists. It limits your borders of making such map. So I give you credits for that. But the map didn't have any eyecandy or personal touches. It felt quite empty next to the idea of recreating a Stronghold 1 map. You can look on this site with Mapmaking 101 ( go to the main site and look at the left ). Also a good story could help out increasing the creativity of your map.

Map Design: 2
As I said before, the map felt somewhat empty. There was a bit too much use of moats and there wasn't any eyecandy. The little stronghold east of the castle did look somewhat strange and the archers weren't even able to leave the little stronghold. You could use some more vegitation next time and also you can use some more rocks to fill up the some space and make it look nice. If you use a river or sea next time I would also like to recommend using some beach due to the better looking transition between the water and land. Again I would like to refer to Mapmaking 101 for some great tips.

Story/Instructions: 1.5
There wasn't any story here at all! You could at least have copied the Stronghold 1 story or made up your own. The only thing that stops me from giving a 1 is that you have put very few instructions about the map. A good story can be very important. Also people who only own Crusader and do not have Stronghold 1 don't even know the story. Well anyway a good story helps boost the map, because people will know the reason of your fighting in the map.

It could use a lot of improvement. I hope you will take my criticism into consideration, and repost the map. I only posted to help you and not to feel bad. If you have any questions remaning let me know.
