--- WIC pt3 - lyse castle - Ter Elst castle---

The campain map showing the war efforts is again included in the zip file.

My cousin already posted this map a long time ago UNFINISHED and this map is very different in its gameplay, it is much shorter and much harder.

Free cookies for the first one to beat this one on very hard.
This map is still easy on easy but it's quite hard on normal. You will have to be very tactical to win this map. I found this to be one of the most fun military only maps I played.

---History---
As this map was initialy based on Ter Elst castle in Duffel, belgium I decided to add the text from my cousins upload.

Ter Elst Castle, locally known as Kasteel Ter Elst, lies on an islet in a public parc in the village of Duffel, south-east of the city of Antwerp in Belgium.

The history of Ter Elst Castle reaches back to the 12th century. It was then owned by the Hildinckhusen brothers, the oldest known lords of Duffel.

From 1356 until the French revolution the castle was owned by the abbey of Tongerlo. The abbots turned the castle into a beautiful estate and some important guests were entertained here, like Margaretha of York on several occassions between 1477 and 1503 and her lover Filips the Beautiful, Duke of Burgundy. The latter asked the Abbey to sell the castle to him because he liked it so much, but the abbots refused.

Part of the castle was burned down in 1584. But the castle was rebuilt in an even more beautiful manor. The French revolutionaries confiscated and pillaged the castle at the end of the 18th century.

A final blow to the castle came with the battle of the Nete during WW I. After the war governor Baron Holvoet wanted to buy the castle to rebuild it and to turn it into a city hall. This was however rejected by the city council. So the castle stayed empty and fell to ruin over the years.

The ruins were bought by the city council in the 1970’s and partially restored in their previous glory. In 1982 the ruins of Ter Elst Castle were opened to the public.

Lord_of_Hell The map is hard, indeed, but not so hard how I expected. Managed to beat it on very hard from the second attempt.

Wow, I must A bad player, at least a lot worse then I thought.
I only managed to win after 15 attemps or so at very hard.
I'll make sure I make the next one harder.

Were my other 2 maps too easy too?

Lord_of_Hell Didn't try them, but I will.
peter2008 Can well remember campaign mission "Bloodshed" where I had a band of archers running away from the Wolf's swordsmen.
Impressive how well a huge army of archers - with full attack bonus - works against long rows of swordsmen in this mission.
Here's pure defending. But this in a quite creative and entertaining way. Tactics and leadership rule. (You can delete ...)
Funny detail: once I had a unit of archers running away from knights.
