In another time, the valley was a thriving place of peace. Then The Snake moved in and dammed up the river, and barred use of it from anyone else. The King sent men to kick the snake out of the river, but they were ambushed. Only 2 swordsmen and a single knight survived the battle. Now the local settlement must raise its own army to rend the snake from the valley... |

Did you make this in only 2 days? Just glancing at the minimap it looks a bit rushed...[Edited on 03/26/09 @ 05:40 PM]

Nice idea of a river blocked by the sneaky Snake.
In-game, I was hardly able to recongnise that the pebbles represent the dried river bed.
Your landscaping, AILD22, is at a very beginning. You could have developped your concept. (Where does the Snake divert the water?) And you could have tried the editor tools for shaping heights. (Rising the valley a bit and lowering it to zero at the river bed.) Bushes, please.
The course of your map works fine. Settled into one coner of the map, one has to set up a wooden castle, resist the attacks of different Lords and kill the opposite one.
Many restrictions, above all for weapons types and weapons trading, make the scenario interesting, perhaps even challenging. Great that there is no moat digging in the dry valley.
Even on very hard, time between the invasions is long. No events bother the strategical chopping of trees. Could train an army so big that the final troops were immediately annihilated.
The stone dam looks nice. Owning him was fun. Massacring the enemy crew was not.
Due to the win conditions, you have to wait until the last battle.[Edited on 03/26/09 @ 07:03 PM]

Like peter has stated above, you should work a little on elevation. A few of the rocks were placed randomly, and it doesn't make any sense on why it's there.
It's nice to see, however, that the Snake has a high advantage over you, such as the height, the invasions, and the 25% bonus morale, making the mission more challenging.[Edited on 03/27/09 @ 09:43 AM]

Playability: 3
Playability is the best part of the map. Starting with little troops there is a lot of freedom in the ways of attacking the castle. The player can get the eco going, or defenses, or try to make a whole bunch or troops fast. The problem with the playability is that the invasions are too far apart and it is not that hard to fend them off. If they were more frequent then taking the castle would become that much more difficult.
Balance: 3
Balance was alright, but it could be better. The enemy invasions were semi-weak and did not pose a threat. The castle could be picked apart by archers/crossbows en masse so that was not super hard either. Just average balance here.
Creativity: 3
There is some creativeness in the map with the bridges over the river but not much else. The castle is simple with little eye candy and no story to be creative either.
Map Design: 2.5
As others have commented, the map design is very basic. The dried up river bed does not look like a river bed. The cliffs end abruptly with no elevation change, they just drop off. The best part of the map design was the gatehouses/wooden walkway over the river. But the dam as a whole needs work, it would not end like that, the end should be larger, a river feeding into a lake, like in RL.
Story/Instructions: 2
A very short story, no original characters or a whole plot, just a simple explanation of the map.
