Caliph AI Modification 1 - Stronger

Author File Description
artofmath This is (probably) the second AI mod that has been uploaded. In the ZIP file I've enclosed the .aiv file, and two screenshots of the new AI castle.

This new Caliph has a tougher army at the expense of a slightly weaker economy, but I hope that players will find this castle a little tougher to break into. It uses stronger towers, but inkeeping with the general Caliph castle-style. Hopefully the build process has been streamlined such that the AI never wastes time waiting for enormous amounts of stone to come in for a tower that is useless in the beginning, or such that no buildings are ever unmanned, or if they are unmanned they are only noncritical buildings, such as wells.

Installation instructions:

1) Make a folder named "Caliph AI Backup" inside the aiv folder, and place the caliph1.aiv file into the new folder.

2) Unpack the .aiv file into the C:\Program Files\Firefly Studios\Stronghold Crusader\aiv folder.

Play and Enjoy!

To get back to the original AI, just delete the "caliph1.aiv" file from the aiv folder, then replace it with the file with the same name from inside the "Caliph AI Backup" folder.

TwoDie Looks nice castle, but just in 25 move he builds a granary? :D he can die in that time :/ without food... when enemy is near him would be, havent thinked about everthing. And most sadly think that you have placed a oil smelter witch most of the games i have played with him his economy falls just... when his oil smelter is destroyed and most of the times smelters one half is left of and here is trouble for him... he buys iron, lose money, and you losing change to be attacked from his castle with bigger army... :)

Much of text and almost no point :D

I have planned the opening moves so that when he reaches 60 popularity, he builds a granary. Regarding the oil smelter... Of course, since it appears that you too have the AI mod program, why don't you just mod out the oil smelter if you hate it so much? It's not hard to do. I'm adding these AIs to give people a bit more variety in what they can expect in regards to castle shape + strength from single player games without having to go through the pain of planning an entire castle + build sequence, but little things like that you can just mod out. ;)
peter2008 Aesthetically a really nice castle, tight and harmonic, naturally looking.
Wether it is stronger? The archers on the Defence Towers are taken out more easily than being on Lookout Towers. One can walk around the castle and shoot everyone inside - from save distance.
For great is that the Caliphs's terrible defence measure, pitch, works well in this castle.

The engineer with oil left of the keep is especially sneaky.
Monkey Lizard guys .. how I can create my own towns for specific NPC ..?

I only intended it to be stronger against catapult battering, since I used an extra layer of wall and the far sturdier defense turrets instead of the original lookout towers.

The compact shape of the inner fort allows more archers to pour fire into attackers, hopefully being able to destroy more enemies when they attack.

I try to make aesthetically pleasing castles... since if they were just castles of 10-thickness wall or castles of just towers... it would be rather boring. ;)
Sir Ravenclaw Nice to see you again, Stronghold stranger :p
I'll have to download this and the modding tools sometime soon ;)
sethyboy The castle does look really nice. :D

It also seems to work pretty well.

The Caliph is a great lord when it comes to defense because he sends five archers to each archer spot.

I don't know many other lords, but I do know that Saladin sends 3 and the Rat sends maybe 1 or 2.

Hmm... From my experiences, Wolf and Saladin both send only 3 archers to each spot.
