This is my first AI castle I ever done and my first castle submitted.

artofmath Hi there.

Nice job on the castle, you managed to fit most of the economic buildings inside... harder to burn.

I have two comments.

1) The larger, the tougher to defend. You certainly have an enormous castle by AI standards. Given the amount of land that Saladin is forced by your castle to defend, I'm not sure that his archers will be up to the job. Pitch would certainly help, but I have yet to see it.

2) All those round towers. Round towers are very expensive to build, and given Saladin's limited arab archers, I'm not sure that all (12?) towers are really necessary.
TwoDie I aggre with artofmath about those towers. Three of them in the pictures arent used by saladin... this castle just looks balanced but expensive to him :)

First, thanks for comments.

As for fire, it isn't so hard to get in ;) but in all playtests he can manage the fire in a percent of about 75. (!!)

@TwoDie, in the pics they aren't used cause I made the screen too early in the game ;)
And you're right that's balanced. In a match I let him about 5-6 Game years alone and he made about 80.000golds(!!!) In a normal, fighting match he didn't passed 20-25k.

artofmath You missed that Saladin only has 10 arab archer posts possible, and 10 is smaller than 12. :| Which is why I asked if all those towers were necessary.
Sokrates I think they are necessary... If you imagine this castle without these three towers, it would look ugly... : )

Just a note: The visible empty towers will later have tower engines in them ;). I assured that all towers are filled by something.
sethyboy The castle definately IS very big. :P

It does look pretty good, but there is one thing I think I should point out:

You should replace maybe around 3 of the bakeries inside the castle with breweries, as Saladin seemed to have his Inns asleep half of the time due to ale shortage.

Other than that, the AI runs very well.

Actually the reason isn't that :p

The Inns runs out of ale because they are a bit too many. The population of whole castle is about 120 I think (including economical buildings) so 4 inns should be enough (1 inn per 30 people) BUT i have placed much more inns because in the times that the castle is being attacked some of inns could be destroyed/ blocked the access so I thought it's better to insert some more for reservs.

peter2008 Took the time to watch this castle both in-game and in the AIV editor.
The round shape and symmetry is really beautiful. Many sneaky details strengthen the "close defence". Nevertheless it took me just 50 crossbows and 50 pikes to kill the garrison.
Had no problem with the pitch. Very pity that not more archers are allowed for the towers.
Could easily bring some slaves to destroy the village.

Interesting, that you placed many hovels early (lol, 21 altogether for 180 pop) but still many buildings stay empty for a long time, even quarries. Due to the AI training units. So, we castle builders might carefully watch (in playtesting) which productive buildings should be manned first and fill some time with wall steps in between.
