1- Forest Bandits

Map Size: 160x160 (Tiny)
Difficulty: Hard
The King has ordered you into a sparsely populated county thick with forests. In this forest resides a small camp of bandits willing to join our forces. Take command of them, and swell their ranks to over a hundred. The bandits are excellent longbow fletchers, so you will be required to amass a stockpile of those as well.

The King sends with you a large supply of food and gold, but once these run out, you must hunt for your own food.

The technology in these backwoods is limited, so you must do the best with what you are given. However, the wily bandits can build pitch ditches, killing pits, and caged war dogs.

No armies will be aware of your presence, but you must deal with constant incursions from other bandit groups seeking to plunder your village.

I enjoyed playing this scenario. The landscape was a beautiful forest setting with plentiful hunting. The instructions were clear and well-written. When I played it on hard, though, it became too repetitive: bandits come!Kill bandits for a long, long time! - while I make bows and babies. Once I figured out the balance of forces and the way to block the enemy it was too easy. (AI limitations) The limitation on food resources was the main challenge. On normal it was a fun and quick game: no major stress! Get organized and win. On hard I would want more variety in the events and the rhythm of events. I would consider adding one or two larger invasions once the game sets into a routine. Stop the bandits for a while and let the player relax: then Bam! Shake up the cobwebs and create panic. A nice fire or food thieves could also spice up the routine. Broke and burned down and 25 insane macemen on the way.
So for playability 3. More variety and challenge needed. Balance 3. The bandits never had a real chance of destroying the camp. More threats needed from the enemy. Creativity: 4. Nicely done map. Tiny was fun. The concept was interesting. Map design 4: the map was well-put together, esthetic and fun to play in. Story/instructions 4: clear and concise. Nice idea. A little work in the EVENTS could easily improve this scenario by making it more surprising, unpredictable and suspenseful.
