4 Brothers

A tricky 'trading' game where you will help to manage the castles of two allied AIs. The AIV editor has enabled this new type of gaming in Crusader.

You are the Operations Manager for two brave and courageous warlords. Your task is to keep your two allies alive and assist them to set up a camp with decent defenses.
Your allies don't have any markets, so you need to transfer goods between all three of you. Use the 'trumpet' button to request and send goods. Your allies have no wood or food at the start, so make sure to send them some.
You have 'won' the game when both your allies have completed their villages. Phillip should have five stables, a fletcher, a poleturner, a church, and a cathedral. Saladin should have an inn, two poleturners, two blacksmiths, two armorers, and a fletcher.
Don't produce xbows, you can't use them anyway.
A 'Victory screen' will not appear (unless you kill all the enemies), but the goal of the game is just to set up solid defenses for your allies. You will try to invade the enemy city in a companion invasion game called "4BrothersAttack".

Don't 'Restart' this game. Crusader will either crash or it will be a completely different game. You can still "Save" and "Load" a saved game.

Let your allies build their own castles. You can improve on their castles when they are completed. Saladin's last improvement to his castle is usually the crenelated walls. Phillip builds two lookout towers near his front gate as
a last step. Avoid adding anything northwest of Phillip's castle. This is where he places his church and cathedral later in the game. If you want to add anything inside their villages, first peek into the attached .aiv files (with the aiv editor recently released by Firefly) so you don't interfere with their plans.

There is space for two mines, one quarry, and two small farms southwest of your keep. But you cannot place all of these at the same time.

Make sure you have space to extend both your stockpile and armory. These will likely fill up with 'useless' goods to keep your allies' storage spaces clean.

Look into the armory, the stockpile, and the granary of your allies and see how you can manage these as well.

You can delete a building of your ally by using the 'attack here' mode of a hand combat troop. Sometimes this can actually be quite useful.

You most likely need the 'bonus AIs' installed (Sheriff, Frederick, and Phillip). They can be found on the website under the 'miscellaneous' download section (or maybe under 'utility files').

Good luck!

peter2008 Can but laugh.
First for seeing another skirmish-invasion custom-AIV map by you (so quickly) which will be great without doubt.
Then, this time it's me crying "No!" cause Sir_Vet and I are working on a similar idea for a scenario. Big lol.

Very much looking forward to you and Sir_Vet's accomplishments. Since I was quicker in posting, I guess your game will have better quality!

I have added a bunch of comments from my experiences with the AIV editor under the 'Walkthrough' in the forums. As I mention there, the AIV editor is a rather primitive tool, but with some imagination you can do quite a bit of interesting things.

The follow-up game to capture the enemy castle in this game is soon to appear under the 'Invasion' cathegory under the name '4BrothersAttack'.

lord dredde It's good to see mods being used like this,as it enhances the game, especially with 'working' invasion/eco maps,i enjoy the different challenges.

peter2008 Hey, I've played the map. Funny to see, the allies don't even have wood for a granary. Of course, the player has to be quick to occupy the ressources before the enemies do it. Removed one apple farm of Phillip and covered the space with two hops farms instead. Found it necessary to speed up the own economy to make gold and either buy wood for the allies or send Saladin many thousands of gold so he could train his troops.
Wonderful castle(s) of the enemies. (The idea of combined usage of a tower we had, too.) "My" Saladin seemed to have been undergone an austerity programme as for towers. And my engineers ... better send them to the cathedral for praying. In other words, more than a Defense for some time seemed not possible to me here.
Waiting for the sign to attack.
sethyboy So will you be releasing your AIVs for download?

You said you would upload the ones from your last map, but I never saw them.

Fighters and commanders,

The Phillip and Saladin .aiv castles of this mission is part of this download. I could send you the aiv of the other four opponents too, but they are not so easy to use.
I'll upload the triangular Wolf castle of the 4Boys mission as soon as I remember.

Don't wait for too long on any attack. Download 4BrothersAttack instead and you will experience an attack you've never seen before!
