Land GrabDedriah's conquest has reached Tuftan. Lord Minoras knew how difficult it would be to defend his lands. Especially when the Siege of Mulholland was a failure. Since that time, the other wheat producing colonies have rebelled. Damn you Mulholland! Tuftan was the only one that stayed loyal to Minoras.
Because he couldn't build stone walls, gates, or towers, he decided that it can only be sold now for additional funds.
Dedriah geared up and promised his men a sure victory. The monstrous lord Minoras was known as a economic and defensive master. But this time, he had no castle. Just a newly built colony. There was no way he could win this battle.
The soldiers defending Tuftan were nervous, but zealous. Eager to get their first hand at combat rather working in the fields. Miinoras wondered, however, Will it work?
He had no time to buy mercenaries and highly trained warriors. The soldiers were just peasants that put on armor and weapons.
As the first few waves came, Minoras joined the battle. He was unharmed and emerged victorious over the slain invaders. A pity that he hasn't had this chance in previous wars.
"DAMN! HOW THE HELL DID HE SURVIVE‽" screamed Dedriah. His anger fell upon his soldiers and he threw a knife at one of them. The one almost retaliated, but the flicker of life went out.
Now it's time to join the battle... .
Minoras was beginning to wonder whether or not the war will end. His warriors were weary and tired. The eagerness in them is now dread. When they heard that the last battle was coming, the cheers had no euphoria in them.
How much longer will we be able to stand?
"Angriff!" cried Dedriah.
Minoras was still in the picture at this moment. He lunged at the enemies with his sword, hitting them at the critical points. Dedriah, as he killed the defenders, ran towards Minoras.
A silent little duel, even some people stopped fighting to get a glimpse of this. The one to emerge victorious will take control over Tuftan. The other will be plunged into an eternal darkness full of grief and failure.
Dedriah threw his knife at Minoras, only to miss the target by three inches. Minoras ran foward and lunged at his opponent and caused a small cut at Dedriah's leg. Minoras slashed him, but he rolled out of the way just in time.
The sky became darker and the clouds began to persperate.
As Dedriah dodged the slash, he chopped his way threw a few defenders and tried to axe Minoras. It hit him in the stomach. Minoras, taking a few steps backwards, ignored the pain from the wound and tried to run and slashed his chest. He got him in the arm. Blood poured out of both sides. Anger was feeding the storm. As Dedriah screamed in agony and glanced at his missing right arm, he tasted copper. He threw his axe at Minoras but missed.
Dedriah dropped. Tried to get his hand to his knife, but his final breath went out. Minoras attempted to roar with victory, but clumsily tripped. He stayed down, grieving in pain.
He too... died.
The invaders and defenders stopped all together. The battle was pointless now that both leaders were dead. Having no heirs to the crown, the colony and all of Dedriah's villages were free.
The rain was all that was left and it seemed to mourn the moribund. |

The setting is funny and interesting. While a tree fungus harvests away some birches on the map, you are given the considerable amount of 10,000 gold for large opening investments. Eventually, all players may be clever enough to buy LOTs of wood.
Placing the granary wisely (and removing the stockpile) belong to the Stronghold economy repertoire.
Defending will turn out to not be difficult. Here lies a drawbak of the mission. There is too much time between the invasions and the mission takes too long at all. It' soon just the same way round. Even game speed 90 did not help me.
A smaller detail. If the troops are sent by the Wolf, why are there messages by the Snake and Pig?
PS. "Attack" is "(Zum) Angriff" in German. "Anfallen" is nowadays used only for wild animals catching other animals or humans. - The Husars in AoE III use the term. This is historically correct. |

Thanks for the feedback Peter. I didn't want to make the time distance of the invasions too short so I lengthened them a little, only to find out that I lengthened them too much!
At first, I was trying with less gold, didn't work out too well for me. But mainly because I'm not a tactician.
The messages from the others are just because the ones from only the wolf seemed to lack something. I just thought I'd like to mix some in.
I didn't add other character invasions because it was only one person commanding the assault.
Also thanks for the correction. :) (I didn't know that the Hussars said that. I don't pay attention to what they say. :P)[Edited on 05/25/09 @ 10:52 AM]
