Meteorite

Author File Description
gunnar120
File Details
Map Size: 300x300 (Medium)
Difficulty: Easy
Made with version: 1
Minimap:
Several years ago, a something large in the distance hit the Earth, sending rock and iron into every direction. Your king has sent you to take 500 rock and iron samples from the "Sky Rock" and bring them back to the castle to be examined, and while you are there, you should try to colonize the area. But beware, some say that the "Sky Rock" does not wish to be disturbed...

__________

I spent a few days looking up crash sites, and how they happen,so I compiled them together to make this. Yes, I know, for a meteorite that large, the crater would be larger, but I had to work with what the map size gave me. Also, this is my first map, so please don't be to harsh, and I hope you like it!

UPDATE!!! The River now gently cuts through, and now is less rough with it. AND the plauge/fire/etc no longer repeats. (I hope D=)

Strife Like peter said on my map, rivers don't cut through hills and mountains. You say a meteor crashed here. Well, the water should be splashed everywhere because of the impact. By the way, water doesn't go uphill.

You didn't set a win condition. You just did auto-stop, so basically, we don't have to do anything then we'll win.

peter2008 Hi gunnar120,

thank you for sharing your first map.

The shape of the hills is really interesting, dividing the fertile ground into some areas. Also, Place-Your-Own-Keep maps always make playing exciting. Above all, when no starting food is given like in this mission.

Now, I will come up with a list of suggestions of what you may improve. Please feel encouraged to move on mapmaking.
Strife has already mentioned the river cutting through both sides of the crater rim. If the crater is big, there may be a river crossing it. Though not in such sharp canyons through the rim. Water is soft and finds the smooth and easy ways. Compare River Wörnitz upon Auhausen, Nördlinger Ries (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wörnitz).
The surface of the landscape is quite rough, you could use the balancing heights tool in the editor (a wave as icon). Also, add bushes, stones and rocks. Compare other maps to get impressed (Fintrollx, Sir_Vet, Sulis ...).

The game plays rather like a Freebuild because there are no win conditions. If there were any,
set the start date as win date, so, as soon as the requests are met, the player wins.
Events are meant to entertain the player by challenging him. The plague starting 1075 you scripted to repeat monthly. This will chase away everybody.
Perhaps, you will let us see an updated version? I'd like to play it.

Stratego peter 2008 is mentioning the river Woernitz;
by the way,I've been living near that small river at the crater's rim in a small village ...
