The young man stood silently looking down from a hill over a lush valley. In the center stood a once strong castle, damaged in battle and crumbling to ruin. Beside him was a man, bent with age, but with eyes burning with desire. Behind the two of them a group of peasants, outcasts from many lands, looked on hopefully. The old man wrung his hands and looked sideways at the young adventurer. His clothes were tattered with age and travel, but there was something regal in his manner that demanded respect. At his side hung a magnificent sword in a jeweled scabbard, a weapon fit for a king. For a long time the young man said nothing, but let his gaze wander over the landscape. He turned to address to the group behind him: "We will make camp here tonight, and begin our new life in the morning. I can promise you nothing but my sword and my loyalty. God willing, that will be enough." He turned once more to the hooded old man beside him: "Supervise here, Dorath, I will scout out the terrain and gage the strength of our enemies." With that, he strode off perposefully down the hill in the fading light...
