Crusader Mini Trail
===================

This map contains a very small version of the Crusader trail games. There are 48 small 'villages' or 'outposts' that you need to eliminate before reaching the final little castle.

There are two rules for this game.
1) You have to follow the trail and attack the 'villages' in the correct order. You have to complete one battle before you move on to the next.
2) You can use at most two of your troops for each unit in the group that you attack. So if you meet a group of two pikemen, you can use four units. You could send in for example two swordsmen and two macemen. A dog cage and a shield each count as one unit. If you reach the final little 'castle', use all your remaining troops.

!!! IMPORTANT !!!

When you download and un-pack this game, you will not get a .map file. You will get a .sav file instead. Move this to your 'saves' folder. Start any arbitrary game, press Esc, and load 'CrusaderMiniTrail'.

This game might appear a little confusing if you fail your first attempt to kill all the enemies. Since there are a fixed number of enemy units and you don't have any missile troops, what strategy can you change to win the game? It is very helpful to play the first part of this three-part hand combat series of games. Download 'HandCombat1: CrusaderChess', read the attached text, and play through at least the first two games of that 'map-pack'. From this, you will learn that each Crusader unit is better at fighting some specific units than others. For this reason, it is actually important to choose the right type of your unit to fight with a specific type of enemy unit. For the example given in CrusaderChess.txt, you found that a monk is better when he fights against an assassin than he is at killing slaves, even though he will lose the battle with the assassin.

I win the prize for the worst minimap and landscape ever uploaded! I just tried to copy the scene from the where you choose the trail games. Don't let the simple landscape deceive you; there is plenty of strategy and considerations in this game.
