(Edit: April 17th 2013 - Just some minor map changes and tweaks)
Bitter cold pierced my body, it consumed my mind. I had been traveling through the snow-covered land for over four days; four days of cruel pain. Alone, I was ready to give up, to collapse in the ice, when at last I had arrived. Upon first sight of the city walls, relief swept through my battered body.
The walls towered high, strong, indestructible. What lay on the inside was a new life for me. As I gazed at the outside of the city, I recalled the history of this land. They called it the greatest battle of all time. Books were written, tales were told and the legend spread throughout the entire world. On this land, before this city existed, two huge armies clashed; one hundred thousand soldiers fought for freedom. The good prevailed, and the war ended.
In memory and honour of those who gave their lives, thousands of people attended an enormous requiem. The soldiers who fought for their children, and their children's children, would never be forgotten.

Well! What to say... what to say...
I have been working on this map since March, and it is now the 21st December - an early Christmas present for you all! That's right, nine months in the making, and it is finally finished. I seriously can not believe it. As I have said, this map was like my ring of burden - such a massive project. I put as much detail into every little corner, I hope I didn't miss anything. In the end, I became tired and decided to fill the rest of the map with forest. So, don't say I'm lazy, or else this map wouldn't be here, now would it?! Ha!
A little note about the himalayan height: I left the rainbow coloured glitch on them as it would have drastically altered the shape of the mountains if I were to fix the glitch. Therefore, I left it for the better. So if anybody gives the map a rating, please don't mark it down due to the glitch on the mountains. Remember: not everyone can be perfect.
Not really sure what else to say. It's 1am here as I type this, and I'm tired. Will I submit anymore maps in the future? I've no idea. My last map was submitted in 2008, I believe, so I can't leave 2009 without making my mark.
Enjoy the map!

Absolutely stunning, but why hasn't it been reviewed?
Rating: 5
The entire map is full of effort, everywhere there are signs of editor tricks. The use of flattened walls makes up most of the entire map. The Dragonheart made sure that every little detail looked good (such as the placement of the snow, the mountains).
Additional Comments:
Only part of this map i didn't like was the larger bridge, because of the crenellations, but I guess every mapmaker has his/her own style ;) |

Impressive. You should know that I created an account just so I could comment on your work. If it is good enough for me to do so, you should give yourself a pat on the back. Not many people can open my eyes so wide.

Well, don't really know what to start with but here it goes - my review for an awesome map.
I think that from the very beginning when you start playing the map no man can avoid staring, even for a second, at the astonishing surroundings filled with tricks over tricks. Certainly tricks are not something fully needed on any map to get a solid 5 from a reviewer, but on this one, actually the design obtained using tremenduous professionally-made tricks makes the map so special. The Dragonheart combines a large number of tricks("large" compared with other maps - there are of course more avaiable tricks) on a single map but he does it not like any other mapmaker, but like a truly master designer.
At the edges of the map people may think the tricks are over, but they're not. There the mapmaker decided to use heights above the normal "highest" as mountains and already grown farms using "sav to map trick". Also the "lowered walls" and "1000 stones trick" are the tricks with the biggest impact in this map as an eye-candy.
Can't even think for a lower score than 5 to this one. This map has been done in 9 months - most people would have given up by 5 months, fewer would have worked that much at a map and ever less than few would have been half close to what The Dragonheart achieved.
I believe this map will stand in history as the heaviest trick-made map ever designed. There are of course more maps with a large level of tricks detail but I've found most of the things created there not linking to each other and being more like a "trick collection" than a map.
Additional Comments:
Anyway this is a map like no other and I hope The Dragonheart will give us more like it with the time passing. |
