Your King has ordered you to build a fortress into a land surrounded and protected by a river.Your main task is to build an ultimate defence castle wich will guard the king`s life in case of an invasion.
Playability: One of the most pleasant freebuilds I have spent time on. It's fairly basic in theme (not design) but this doesn't distract from the ease of buildinhg a really good castle. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Balance: Good points here are the relatively low resource areas. You feel like you are BUILDING something over a period of time and I do prefer freebuilds where raw materials are a little harder to obtain. Arhanghel has used the map well here by spacing stone and iron out across the map. My only concern is that the areas of flat land are far and few between, although you can easily sustain a hefty population. In some ways, this has added to the balance, making it more tricky to set up a food chain. Definitely pushing a 4 score here.
Creativity: Nice idea, but nothing radically new. Not that the creativeness of this map is bad, far from it. Just maybe a little basic?
Map Design: Arhanghel is clearly coming along in leaps and bounds and this map looks extremely good! Very nearly a 5 score. Beautifully rendered landscapes with a real atmosphere and feel to the terrain. Effort has been made to produce something other than a flat landscape with huge areas of raw materials and this always scores well with me. Freebuilds need not be dull and flat! Great work.
Story/instructions: Again, an area which is a little light. Again, not a bad story.
SUMMARY: I have a real soft spot for this map, it looks great and plays extremely well. Few bad points, which is an achievement. Definitely worth a look and I would recommend this to any newer members because it's a great advert for freebuilds and playability is easy and a pleasure!
