Playability : 4. Despite at the difficulty I played the map the game wasn't dangerous, I have to admit playability didn't suffer. You have to be very careful and meticulous to dont suffer a terrible defeat, imo. Launching the map, I immediatly think it was not a surprise the map was never reviewed. Strengh ratio at the first examen seem to be largely at your disavantage. Here playability gain a lot, because player have to study carefuly the map and exploit weakness of the castle with patience and precision to gain the victory. recompence come form your work. In another hand dont expect to much glorious combat. Without using long range tactic "shoot here" even a single time, my hand to hand combat troops never see a fight... if we execpt some sporadic one when ennemies macemen and knights charge you at the beginning of the game, like usually when they are outside the castle and/or gates are not closed.
Balance : 3. I played the map at normal and suffer 12% loose. I think the result would have be the same at hard, but completly different at very hard where I suspect victory to be very hard, but more probably impossible. Balance is imo in the average, that dont means it's bad. There is only, IMO a little too much turkey shoot where ennemies have not hope at all or so few. Here the castle was take only with siege engines and missiles troops. Even the lords was killed with arrows. Perhaps rebalancing the map adding some balista could change this a little.
PS : it's was not the goal of the map, but I try it as defend to (and dont count this try for my review). I was a little surprise to see many pitch traps defenders can't light. There's simple no archers close to brazero to light these pitch traps... Strange.
Creativity : 4. It's always hard to be creative with an historical map or a castle of the week. Perhaps it would normaly deserve a 3 but regarding the context a 4 is more fair imo. Perhaps could I count it's the first time I take a castle without using infantery, but I'm not sure it was intended. Quite funny anyway, because it can't be achieved so easily.
Map design : 3. Well here a generous 3. I will not strike benevolant work for the castle of the week, when people spend their precious time for the community. However, I have to admit the map is on the low fork of the average. Landscape decoration is only amazing number of trees and denivelement made, it seems with quite large brush and equalizing. The castle himself is not ugly, but so empty. I've difficulty to imagine it cant include a single building such as an armory, a well ect ...
Story instructions 5 : Castle of the week have often/always excellent and intructive story. This one is not the exception. Just look at castle of the week for the story rather than the short story included in the map.
