part II

Ancient Rome was a civilization that grew out of a small agricultural community founded on the Italian Peninsula as early as the 10th century BC. Located along the Mediterranean Sea, it became one of the largest empires in the ancient world. Roman civilization is often grouped into "classical antiquity" with ancient Greece, a civilization that inspired much of the culture of ancient Rome. Ancient Rome contributed greatly to the development of law, war, art, literature, architecture, technology, religion, and language in the Western world, and its history continues to have a major influence on the world today.
By the 3rd century BC, the Romans abandoned the hoplite formation in favor of a more flexible system in which smaller groups of 120 (or sometimes 60) men called maniples could maneuver more independently on the battlefield. Thirty maniples arranged in three lines with supporting troops constituted a legion, totaling between 4,000 and 5,000 men. The early Republican legion consisted of five sections, each of which was equipped differently and had different places in formation.


MISSION

After battle morale of your army considerably grew up , however Kwad's resigned in their territory where probably they grow in strength. You decided, that you will build camp, but you have not sufficiently a lot of wood to make this, on addition food ends, without which army can not march further.

On coast of Danube be situated remainder after old village, you recognise, that this place will be good on meeting wood. Also good pastures in neighbourhood are, so You can accumulate also food.

Be careful, these grounds are full of bandits, and on spring wolves arrive here.

TIPS
-look after archers, you can not lose them, because they will be needed over knocking out wolves
-try how the most quickly to surround wall the keep

At normal difficulty, 250 wood and 100 cheese seems like a very easy task, but beware, theft from granaries are common. To stick to my goals, I stopped consumption of cheese, only rationing it when there was no meat left. Soon all deer were wiped clean off the map. Popularity negatives such as bandits and plague were easily detoured by setting food to +4; still, this meant I was going to have a much harder time achieving the objectives. As for wood, I waited until I had collected about 310 wood, then halted production and sent my remaining free peasants to work on the dairy farms (so I could get a time bonus).

Balance: 4
Pretty good balance, but as for military casualties, all I suffered was 1 pikeman and a few damaged units. The enemy never made any attempt to destroy my economical buildings, only trying to raze one of my wooden gatehouses (and strangely, only that EXACT one the entire game). Of course bandits did kill off a few wandering peasants and cause a bit of ruckus with food production, but recovering from the setback was very easy.

Creativity: 4.5
When it comes to Rome maps many may picture a gleaming city full of massive architectural structures, the Colosseum, or maybe even the Senate. But as your starting paragraph states, Rome did originate from a small settlement in Italy a long, long time ago, and this map reminds me of that :)
Wooden fort, army formations, and a river- all combined together to make a creative outpost on the Danube.

Map Design: 5
Not only does the landscape here look good, even landscape that looks flat isn't suitable for farms, so it's not really flat at all. This ensures that the player doesn't cram around 20 farms into a little corner and then sit and twiddle their thumbs while the game quickly comes to a close.

Story/Instructions: 3.5
A few errors, but I understood all of the text very well, plus, a little historical info and a mission briefing always brightens the way.

Additional Comments:
I finished 2 years early. Final score: 16 thousand something, I forgot :p
