Face 1917 bad guys, among them an overwhelming band of knights trained to tear down any gatehouses. The invasions are scripted to arrive in biggest blocks, so many wait at the signpost, for some time. And there's no units spaceleft on the map, so the engineers cannot man the tents which disappear.
By concentrating the different units types at certain spots, I won the defence by June 1185.

"as hard as possible" :)
Then, script the invasions in small waves, appearing in the same month, or pretty short after each other. This way, you make more of the units leave the signpost and charge "together". That ... may reach the impossible.
