Saladin's Empire

Author File Description

Notes about this Castle and Saladin:
This is a very large castle, and, as such, can take a great deal of room for Saladin to finish. The many round towers also ensure a heavy amount of stone will be needed for Saladin to finish construction.

The complicated moat design takes a long time to complete, but the castle should hold its own
well enough without it. If the moat areas that block in the "good things" (statues, shrines, etc.) is completed, Saladin's workforce will be a bit more productive as they won't be able to wander around the nice areas and take breaks.

This castle has a many buildings, and for it to be the most effective, Saladin should have
plentiful access to Iron, Stone, and farm land to the sides and behind his castle.

Have fun, and thanks for looking!

Adam the First This castle looks really great! Very good job!:)
Heroesflorian Ah, nice to see another castle of yours!

The castle looks quite impressive and seems to be well thought-out and I'm sure Saladin will be a tough enemy using it.

Though, there are some mistakes. I got not much time right now, as I'm going to spend a week in Berlin, but here are some of them: the nice areas can actually be "accessed" or at least visited by your peasants, they'll just wait on top of the walls next to the gardens. Putting them 1 tile away from the walls would help, as well as placing some good things next to keep&stockpile, as most workers have to go there anyway.
Some additional water pots (especially next to the keep) would be nice to prevent fiery catastrophies.
And I see you used a combination of high and low walls, in order to block off assassins and siege towers, right? The problem is that these can still access the outer low wall, enter the towers from the low wall and the high wall from the towers, making the whole construction a bit useless... my suggestion here: remove the low-wall-sections around the tower with alternating 2-tile-sections of high and low crenelated walls. (using only 1 long section of low/high crenel would result in alternating higher and lower tiles (the "normal" design of crenelated wall), with the lower tiles being climbable for assassins.

Thanks for taking a look. There are a couple of water pots and plenty of wells throughout. I don't see fire being a huge issue, especially since many people don't resort to it since it's a cheap tactic ;-)

About the walls and assassins, your point it probably valid, but if the attacker manages to deal with the moats, outer wall, and pitch, then they are probably going to get into the castle regardless.

I had Saladin generating tons of money on this castle, and he'd occasionally spend it all on a spectacular (for an AI player at least) attack every once and awhile.

It's probably one of my favorite creations thus far.

PS -
Have a fun and safe stay in Berlin. Email me when you get some free time! :-)
Heroesflorian Returned yesterday evening, today was the last school day before the summer holidays, so I got some free time now.
Berlin was very interesting, this one week was really short and the time quite fast gone. But we "stayed safe" and made a lots of photos... (And sorry for these 2 lines of "beside the topic").

About the castle, one more hint may be giving him some fletchers, as he always will buy wood if necessary and crossbows give a nice bunch of profit without needing iron mines.

The fire resistance may be not that a big problem, you're right here. Didn't see some of the wells at first... as I packed my bags for Berlin at the same time I looked at the castle.

But the matter with the low wall is something that could really be improved. I mean, the low wall makes no real sense, does it?
And the castle is relatively big and small groups of units can probably hide behind the outer wall (at least, if one or two of the towers are crumbled/emptied), fill in some of the moat (after making a small hole in the wall or at the drawbridges) and open up a path for a big group of assassins.

miharino123321 this castle is coolest castle ever I see.but it need a 2 granary and 6 stockpiles too big castle for 4 the saladin is very strong and a need big army to kill them.
