Okehampton castle by Ferrus Rinn.
In this file you will get two different maps, one an invasion and one a seige!

SEIGE MAP:
This map has been optimised for Normal Difficulty, if you fancy a real challenge play it on Hard Difficulty. I decided to make the stone version of the castle as it would be more challenging, as well as fun to play, the motte and bailey version would have been to easy!
I've tried to re-create the castle as exact as possible, but very few images show the castle intact, primarily as it was left derelict and all of its fixtures and fittings were taken out, not to mention the stone was taken from the castle and was used to build homes. So some things may or may not look correct with the groundplans I found. Unfortunately, I had to chop off the barbican which extends further out from the gatehouse as the castle was off-set from the map (d'oh!)

Hints/Tips: use your boilermen wisely and accurately, look after the gatehouses and think 'bottleneck'

INVASION MAP:
Unfortunately I do not have the time required to make this map be a successful invasion map and that is why I am giving it to you to work on. The starting goods and the building goods are perfectly tweaked. You can reach a population well in the 100s comfortably, and leave them alone for 20+ years without hassle, (apart from the armoury being full)

I have made it so that the troops you can build are archers, boilermen, spearmen and macemen. If you do make it an invasion map, please do not go overkill with starting troops such as crossbowmen and swordsmen, look at the seige map and see how very little swordsmen and crossbowmen can defeat the large army. (If you play it right ;p)

Known bugs: For some unknown reason two of the hopsworkers refuse to work, probably because I messed up the magic eraser) and the apple farms are intentionally set to snooze as they don't work either. The apple trees are eye candy really. I have also intentionally left a gap on the stairs to allow knights to ride through. I have also intentionally not made any gatehouses inside the inner bailey. From past experience the A.I. go really dumb once they breached the outter wall so that's why you have a defence tower acting as a gatehouse.

Please do upload your submissions, It'd be great to see someone do it justice!

Adam the First The file contains a Scarborough castle invasion and siege map, but not Okehampton castle.

hahaha oops my bad! I'll fix it now :)

I know why it went wrong, for some reason stronghold created two different locations for me, one being the game files and another seperate being the saves and playermade maps.
It has been updated now.

Lord_of_Hell looks cool from the minimap

Lord_of_Hell I'll start say that the siege is not very balanced. First I told myself I should try it as a defender on easy then increase the level of difficulty as I gain more experience on this specific castle.

So I started the map and played like a beginner on easy. Then, from nowhere a huge mass of troops invade the castle. Used some boilermen but still not enough to stop that army. The lord got killed
But wait a minute, that was the "easy" setup which I think should be easy for anyone and not too hard for a beginner.

I started the scenario again, with the same settings. I have regrouped 90% of the archers and crossbowmen in the front tower, and all knights behind the gate. When some swordsmen or pikes tries to destroy it (and my fire was of course, not enough) I open the gate and send the knights over them, keeping the gate on its feet. The northern gate is also not hard to keep it undestroyed.
Finished it with 10%
losses - which were some archers and knights

I finished it on normal and hard too, but "normal" would be more like "hard" and "hard" more like "very hard".

Playing as the attacker was easy. Could beat the lord on very hard from the first shot.

The design is very nice, I like the marsh a lot and the castle too. Always nice to see historical castles, even if, as you said, it is not completely accurate. On the design the only thing I didn't like was the place from where the castle is attacked - completely blank. At least some trees would make it more interesting.

Overall it's a good map, but can be done even better.
