<<Today>>Robert said<<we fight for what we believe is right. We fight to avenge our wise King, we fight for who have lost a brother or a friend or a father. We fight to put a stop to the harassment of a king coward. Today we are here to prove that people count more than the sovereign. We have axes and pitchforks, and wear clothes of the poor, but we are not afraid. Our hearts are full of hope, courage and hatred. My friends, today we will take our victory. Get ready, and may the gods protect us!>>
''Just a good speech'' I said to myself. As the brother of Robert I was at the right of him, on my white horse. In front of me there was the largest mass of men I had ever seen. Thousands of men united under a single flag. A flag that represented freedom. But the men I saw were scared. Pitchforks against swords, crossbows against stones... We were not well equipped. But my brother did not care. He had worked hard to get here, and could not wait to jump into battle. On the other side of the battlefield I could see an intense glow. It was the enemy army. Armored swordsmen, archers, knights, catapults... less than us, but each of them was worth five of us. There was a first line formed by pikemen and dealers, largely mercenaries, which pawed impatient. Behind them there were many archers and bowmen, with arrows already nock . For the past there were the best warriors from all over the realm, the swordsmen of Sir Bolton, the best warriors that the world had ever seen. On either side of the grid was the cavalry, glittering like a precious gem. Many banners and flags fluttered in the wind. On each of those were represented the moon, the symbol of Lord Janos. That symbol is repeated on all the shields and tunics of his men.
When armies were deployed, there was silence. It did not last more than a few seconds. The sound of a horn sounded in the air, then another, then another hundred. As one man, the enemy army marched against us.
My brother gave orders to advance, and even our rushed forward. They weren't trained to march together, so they came disordered. There was a deafening noise. I was in the front row, and I killed my first enemy. I looked around a moment. The battle was going well. We killed many mercenaries and enemy archers, and many others were fleeing. But the swordsman were coming. They ran over us like a wave. We fleed, but we realized that the cavalry had surrounded us. In the melee I saw my brother fight against Sir Bolton. The enemy General killed him by cutting his head. Everything was lost. We were surrounded. Then I was hit on the head and passed out ...
I awoke in my room in the castle of our family. We had been away for many years. Near me there was an empty bed: the bed of my brother. I remembered everything: the battle, the defeat, the shot in the head, the death of my brother. I screamed in anger. Years of war thrown to the wind. Shortly after one of my men entered , and I asked him what had happened. He told me that during the night they returned to collect our dead and they found me. The survivors took refuge in the castle, but the king's army was coming upon us. They proceeded slowly, but sooner or later would come. We must prepare.
The castle is small, and lies in a narrow valley. The stone and iron mines were occupied by bandits, and the fort at the entrance of the valley has been destroyed.
Train crossbowmen and mace to kill the bandits.
Arrive to the first invasion in 1186, the second in 1193.
