Welcome friends in this new adventure. With this map begins a new saga, created by me. I hope you enjoy it, and if you have time, comment and rate please.
This saga talk about a kingdom, consisting of eight land, living in peace with each another. The death of the king, however, throws the kingdom into chaos. The nobles accuse each other of having murdered the king, and war breaks out. Each claims the throne…
In the zip. File you can found the map of the kingdom, the story ,the list of the nobles house and another map that shows the sides and that shows where the mission takes place.. (For the map I take inspiration from the saga of G. G. Martin: A song of Ice and Fire.)
Playability: 4
The most enjoyable part of this map was trying to pack in a super-power economy given the available space. Of particular annoyance was the lack of stone and iron, so frequently I had to buy iron and some stone to keep up with demand. I managed to eke out about 80 residents supported by wheat farms. The fire kept things lively. Also the initial battle was sort of nice. The invasions themselves were not very difficult, I never felt I was seriously threatened, and I had lots of time between them, during which not much happened. The final assault on the enemy castle was sort of fun also.
Balance: 2
I played this on very hard and won on my first attempt. The map was not very difficult - I managed to salvage virtually my entire starting force of archers by moving them back behind the river, and cleaning up most of the macemen with my knights and pikemen. So I had something around 100 archers to beat off the subsequent invasions, gradually supplemented by more and more crossbowmen and a horde of swordsmen and pikemen. By the final invasion, everything that came to my wall was slaughtered. Following that, I simply had to crush the opposing castle and achieve the gold objective.
Creativity: 4
This map's creativity score comes from the way the player's village is set up, the restriction of iron and stone resources, and the multiple segments (initial battle, invasions, castle assault). Other than that there's nothing extraordinarily creative about it.
Map Design: 4.5
The map design is fairly well done, it's clear that a lot of attention was paid to the terrain. Perhaps my one complaint is that the mountains mostly just look like garbled piles of rocks. Despite that they still look pretty good. Also the river looks sort of plain. Regardless, the map as a whole looks very nice and is worthy of a good score.
Story/Instructions: 5
Although there's no story in the actual scenario briefing, it's clear that a lot of thought went into the story from the files packaged with it. You get a five in this category.
