Playability: 5/5. This is an extremely well put together siege map. It's simple in terms of goals but tremendous fun to play. The title should give you sufficient clues as to what to expect and whilst i'm not a big fan of huge areas of pitch ditches generally, this is the exception. Watching people burn is rather fun! Like this map a lot!
Balance: 4/5. Okay, so this castle is purely about defending. I started on the normal difficulty, which was the default setting, but found it a little too easy. Moving on to hard difficulty was much better and for those that are tactically astute, very hard is a great scrap with what feels like thousands of men marching towards you. Very nearly a 5 score, this map will have something to offer most gaming styles and abilities.
Creativity: 4/5. Simple enough, defend against the masses and use the pitch wisely. But this is done very well and adds to the idea of a 'wall of fire'. Great effort.
Map Design: 3/5. The novel shape of the castle is appealing. Maybe too big a map size chosen, as there are large areas of untouched, unused ground that seem a bit wasted. Minimal terrain modelling as well, it would have been nice to see something sculptured.
Story/Instructions: 3/5. A decent attempt at providing a story and introduction. Good, but nothing amazing. Still, credit is given here for considering this section of the overall design.
IN SUMMARY: Few (if any) flaws in terms of gameplay. Good fun, lots of fighting, frantic running around and mass slaughter! I'm extremely impressed with the idea and gameplay of this map. Maybe a little more work on the design front, coupled with a bit of polishing on the story. Excellent map for what it is with lots of good points. Enjoy!
