I got tired of seige maps that had no detail, so I took 4 hours to make this nice little map called "Ignite or die penninsula." I recommend you play it on very hard and deffending. I don't know how hard it would be on attacking though. Well anyway enjoy :)
Playability: 5/5. This is a brilliant siege map that has bags of playability and is incredibly well done. It's a tactical siege and your success depends on using the pitch ditches and to a lesser extent the caged war dogs. They are a few of these just outside the outer wall and when released at the right time will be extremely useful. I found they attacked the trebuchets and prolonged the life of the castle. Massive hordes of attacking troops may make this look like a daunting map but the pitch ditches are well placed and lighting these at key moments will mean this map is certainly beatable, but tough when playing on very hard/defending, per the author's recommendation. Thoroughly enjoyable siege map.
Balance: 4/5. If you neglect the pitch ditches or light them at the wrong time there is slim hope of you beating this. The attacking troops are well thought out, heavy ground attacking swordsmen posing a formidable part of the enemy. Yes, it's a tough map but very good nonetheless. I opted to light the pitch ditches in the castle at the end and the enemy were swallowed up in flames. Your troops are much fewer in number and strength - use them wisely.
Creativity: 4/5. A slightly different approach to defending this castle is refreshing, if not something that has done before. Saying that, it's a quality map and the overall look and feel of the map and the way the siege plays out is good. It looks like a working castle too, always something I find attractive.
Map Design: 4/5. The castle is well done. The landscape is better still, with very good use of the terrain tools. Some small and subtle eye candy adds to the score here and it's hard not to like a map with care and attention paid to detail. Great stuff.
Story/Instructions: 3/5. Not a bad area, the instructions are clear and the author has stressed what was required when designing the map. Maybe a little light on content, that's all.
IN SUMMARY: I like this map a lot. It's fun and playable, difficult yet beatable and is very well made. Great stuff and a definite recommended download IMO.
