This is my first siege map, its probaly not done to the best of my ability but i just want to see how good people think it is. If your playing on defence i suggest u keep it on the easy or medium setting, so far i have never been able to defend without losing. So tell me if u do lol.

Last Stand is a great little defensive siege. RabidFighter has put together a well-designed map that is entertaining and fun to play.

Playability 4/5 “I can’t believe I’ve lost this” I said to myself. Yet, there I sat while the AI proceeded to Kick my A**. I arrogantly assumed this map would be a pushover and opted to play on hard difficulty on my first attempt. Yeah, yeah like I said I lost and badly at that. The AI performs magnificently as the attacker. What you as the defender are faced with is a two sometimes even three pronged assault. This is quite a challenge to repel. You are given enough troops to work with but defending two or three completely separate walls while watching the red dots on the mini map surge towards your castle is hectic to say the least. A thoroughly fulfilling challenge! I achieved victory on my second attempt also played on hard difficulty with surprisingly acceptable losses of only 39% of my defending troops.

Balance 4/5 the defending troop composition is a little heavy on the ballistic side. I think this is the reason for my surprisingly low losses as the AI ignored the men atop the walls and headed straight for the Keep. On the other hand, the attacking army is a little short on ballistic units. With that said, the two forces actually complement each other well so overall balance is pretty good. Kill pits are sensibly used and well placed in front of gatehouses. Pitch is a little excessive but individual pitch ditches are small in size. There are no great seas of the stuff. Due to the defending troop composition this pitch is actually necessary in order to win. The end result of all these aspects was a battle that ended as a close call at the Keep every time. Good Stuff!

Creativity 4/5 A nicely designed and fully functional castle. The defenses of the gatehouses are formidable and a great deal of attention went into this fortress. Basically it defends itself well. I did notice that the AI tended to be partial to the angled corners of the outer curtain wall. Turrets or towers were usually placed in these vulnerable spots and the lack of them may be what attracts the AI to them. Either way this siege plays out very well.

Map Design 3/5 the surrounding terrain is average with some effort being applied. The map cries out for some more creativity and detail in this department. No real eye candy and I am sure the author will agree a bit uninspired. The attacking engineers will not engage due to the fact that they were not given any trebuchets or catapults in the scenario editor.

Story/Instructions 4/5 Some play notes are included on the download description page. The launch page has a decent amount of time invested in it and shows an above average effort at making an engaging storyline.

In Short- This is a challenging defensive siege that is worth a download IMO. Just shy of greatness this is still an entertaining and fun scenario.
