Preview abbot aiv pack

Author File Description

Hi lords of heavengames.

You maybe remember me and my project to make 8 new .aiv castles for every ai lord, as near as possible at the difficulty and building style of the ai.

I promissed to make richard next, but he is boring, also I had a lot to do, so 9 months too late, but better than never, I will upload a preview of my abbot castles. I made him a little stronger though, with a bit more water around his castle.

I hope you guys enjoy it, and let me know what you think about it, suggestions etc. And if you are still interested in my project or not.

With best wishes,

Lord Psycom

peter2008 Hello Lord Psycom,

you deserve a comment, if only in parts. I had fun to try your beautiful Abbot installation as a military target.
(Did not take the time to observe it's economic functionality.)

Two observations at first.
- I very much liked the hidden well behind some hovels in front of the castle. While I killed another waterbearer with slaves, we missed the one located there, so the fire around the Church was quickly ended by him. Such tricky details rock.
- You placed stairs aside of the inner gatehouse - and they work! (Often there's a problem with the lowest step, in the editor.)

From my major attack I can tell you several observations which are not in favour of the defensive quality of this castle. (Well, it was interesting, and we all keep on learning.)
- You place two turrets only in the rear edges of the castle, instead of large Square towers. So, the Abbot can place only two tower ballistae on the front towers. So, if these ballistae get wiped out, there are no strong weapons left for some nasty defence from behind.
- His archers are nicely spread and provide a cross-fire impressive enough by its hissing tones. Yet, it's weak as usual for the Abbot.
I'd suggest to give him as much of the unarmed shooters as possible.
- Archers are also responsible for digging the moat. But this precedes very slowly. Most of the moat had not been digged until 15 minutes of the game.
- You thinned out the massive walls of the traditional designs. Thus, a fire from the one side can easily jump over the walls and leap to the buildings there. One slave attack from the side of the engineers' post spread across the entire village and sustainably ruined it.

Keep up designing. If you don't know them already, you will find helpful:
- a list of AIv details by qtlilkeg which I once sumbitted as Miscellaneous File named "Crusader AIs - Castle design tables" and
- some discussions about custom castle design, especially by artofmath, in the Forums.

Thanks Lord Peter,
well, to be honest, I am creating aiv files for like 18 months now, and still I am doing a few every month. I don't upload the most here, 'cause they are not that interesting, and / or good. I would appreciate it if you could look my old aiv files up, just click on my name and then on my profile under uploads under crusader modifications.
Thanks for play-testing it! I really appreciate such effort and I think your statements are really helpfull!

peter2008 LordPsycom, looks like my fun playing SH1/SHC will last a bit, so I gonna conform to your wish. Just give me some time.

EaglePrince I didn't give any comment, but you made this one really well. :)
