For centuries the Mountain Keep of Satala stood at the crossroads of the River Telebóas and the all-important pass to the waterways of the Roman West. The Romans rebuilt the keep atop large earthenworks and used it as a Stronghold to prevent the Parthians from invading Armenia by a northern route. Later a Christian community of about 500 occupied the site and even had a bishopric, but it appears the site was abandoned sometime in the late 9th or early 10th century, and forgotten.
It remained a ruin until the mid-1050s, when you and your band of Norman adventurers reoccupied the old Roman fort and strengthened it to carve out a new kingdom (where only you and your few trusty knights may wear plate armor). Fend off Ortukid attackers while gathering a fortune (25,000 gold should do it) and gathering a happy population of at least 100 souls, so that by 1079 you will be granted kingship and marriage to the Angevin Princess Matilda.
Of course the Turks will take issue with this claim. Soon after your wedding, thieves will make off with all your food stores, just before every armed man that the Orient can muster (and twice as many unarmed slaves) descend upon you. You must hold this refortified Gateway to the West against impossible odds until the strain of trying to dislodge you collapses the Seljuk economy in 1111. It's up to you to keep the Ortukids out of history.
