King Fransiscos army must cross the river Embara, your small wooden bridge is the only crossing for miles. Unfortunatly you are not on good terms with the king and your castle lies right on the west side of the crossing. The King will most definatly try to take it. Whatever you do, don't let your castle fall, and don't delete the stairs.
No dejas tu castillo caller! Nesesitas resistir el ejerito espaniol del Rey Fransisco!
Note: The ai will most likely hack at the walls until a routeto the keep becomes available. This map is recomended for defending and is best played on hard or very hard.
Playability: 4/5. Excellent little map! I really enjoyed this from start to finish. The gameplay is very good and the AI seems to work well with the layout of both the castle and landscape. Playing on hard and then later very hard as per the author's recommendations leaves you with a great battle. I found whilst playing this that the AI attacks in waves, saving a lot of the heavily armoured soldiers until near the end when the walls of the castle had been breached. This really is a great siege map, with only one slight flaw. It took a couple of attempts to beat it, but on those occasions where my lord was killed the game didn't stop... no idea why this was the case as the set-up is a basic siege. Apart from that, everything else is fine.
Balance: 5/5. Always a challenge and playing on most difficulty levels with the exception of easy will give most skill levels a challenge. The pitch ditches are sufficient in size to cause massive losses to the enemy if ignited at the right time. Setting fire to the castle as a last ditch effort to win is pretty crusial too as you can easily be overrun otherwise. Each time I played I felt like I was either going to lose or just scrape a victory. Perfectly set up.
Creativity: 4/5. It's nice to see a siege on a smaller scale and the combination of terrain and castle design assisted the overall feel of the map. Slightly different to the normal siege.
Map Design: 5/5. I love it! The castle is well made, not overly produced and the terrain is also very well done. It all gels together and looks realistic, which I always prefer. The wooden bridge is a nice touch, as are the rapids, which are subtle and well disguised. Quality work.
Story/Instructions: 3/5. Again another part of the map that is done well, the story/intro reads well and is easy to understand. Only lacking in content and depth, but that's all.
IN SUMMARY: I've really enjoyed this siege map. It's just well put together and near perfect playability makes it a recommended download. Well done!
