This is a very well thought out skirmish map based on a small size layout for that intimate, constant attacking/defending feel. Enormous fun and if you play with a decent AI lord and give them an advantage, this skirmish map comes to life. There are plenty of resources available for you to draw on and building a decent economy is no problem. The design lends itself to careful planning and after several plays, I have to stress that this is a quality map that isn't restricted to any one game style. Good stuff.

Balance: 4/5

More or less equal resources either side of a rocky divide, with one access to the other player's keep. Excellent idea in having to walk right past the enemy walls across the ridge if you fancy taking down the enemy castle. Managing a decent sized econony is easy to do and takes off the pressure of having to juggle between this and the military side. The small, compact nature of the map means that you still have to be careful in placing buildings. Whilst it may be easy to wall off the exit/entry point, I opted for s freestanding castle each time, allowing the AI to sally forth when it chose to, and testing my castle defences (in the nature of the game).

Creativity: 4/5

Some good ideas here, but as mentioned before, the high ground dividing the two keep areas, which also acts as a path to the respective keeps, is a nice idea and works well here. Nice to see a small size map used effectively for this style of gameplay.

Map Design: 4/5

Good. Carefully modelled terrain and resources that are plenty but not liberally splashed across the ground. Building a small, compact castle seems to be the requirement here. Neat use of terrain tools.

Story/Instructions: 3/5

A decent enough intro to the map, outlining briefly what the game will offer. Would have been even better with maybe a little bit more depth and content, but this is a minor grumble to what is a recommended download.

IN SUMMARY

Like this a lot. It's a good training ground too, for those (like myself) that are nothing special when it comes to skirmish tactics. Recommended.
