Rhuddlan Castle is one of the 'Iron Ring' Castles built by Edward I. It was designed by Master James of St. George, the Chief Designer of practically all the Great Edwardian Castles of Wales. Rhuddlan is unique in its diamond shaped inner ward. This was surrounded by a polygonal outer ward defended by a moat on three sides and a river on the fourth. In the Year 1280 when the castle was roughly 60% complete, Wales was by no means subdued. The castle was besieged and taken by the forces of Llywelyn the Last. Oddly after taking the castle, the last natural born Prince of Wales took some of the building materials for his own use and promptly left the castle intact. This map is meant to simulate Llywelyn's siege. You may attack or defend this map and it's counterpart map of the castle when it was completed. You may play both maps at any diffuculty level.
