Difficulty: Hard
In this scenario you must build a castle on the western border to protect the kingdom from invaders. I did my best to make it challenging, but not impossible. Enjoy ~ Dunwifit

A commandable effort for a first map, avoiding most mistakes usually seen in a first try, but the map is far too easy even
at very hard.

Playability : 3

Playability is average. good point is absence of trading which bound you to plan all your actions and constantly watching
your town to prevent problems.
You cant rely on market place to equalize effect of your bad gestion.
Bad point : Too much undisturbed time is given to the player allowing him to build a very strong communauty, castle, army
and economy. Even moderate lack of stone (and iron) can't balance this. Fair use of event even more calamity would have been
welcome to balance the game and wake up the player from his usual tasks.

Balance : 2. Great weakness of map. It's close to deserve a 1. I played it at normal setting first time, very hard the second.
In both case victory is easy to acheive, 4% loose at very hard, mostly because of knight charges outside the castle just
for fun.
Bad point : excepted by siege engins my walls were never damaged, and moat filling was annecdotic. Disturbing event are a few and
can't worries you. Feeding even a sizable population is not a problem.
Good point : engineers and siege engin are effectives on this map, like it is usually on medium sized map.

Map Design : 3

On the average. It's a simple map, which could appear rough, but once your castle and town are under construction this
impression vanish quickly. Global look of the map make a feeling of simplicity and realism.
Events are fairly used, even more evil one would be welcome. No major bugs nor minor. I can only point a vast area which could be
builded but where enemey can't go. It could be use by player as safe place to build for example hovels, barrack, ect ...

Creativity : 3

Nothing really creative, except absence of trade which is not very usual but not new.

Story/instruction : 3

Classical but it exist.

It could have be a good map because of little supply in stone and no trade in order to build a new castle, but time given
to the player ruined this challenge.

Played in V1.2 at normal and very hard setting, no use of traps pitch or dog.

Playability: 3 This is not an especially hard scenario to play, your goal is to defeat the attacks upon your castle, most buildings are available with the notable exception of a Marketplace, making you plan your economics more carefully.

Balance: 3 Played at normal level this is probably too easy, attacks are very spaced out and allow plenty of time to develop a strong defence, however I score a 3 because this maps lends itself well to being played at any level, giving players of lesser ablilty a chance to perfect their gameplay, and not everyone wants every map to be dead hard.

Creativity: 3 Nothing outstanding in this scenario, but no glaring problems, the map plays well.

Map Design: 3 A pretty basic map that actually looks ok, the terrain is mostly low level with a hilly area near stone, which makes siting the Keep an obvious choice. Iron can then be a little distant but easily collectable for weapons. Maintaining supplies should be no problem with plenty of trees around.

Story/instructions: 3 Not a lot, the guidlines say this should be a 3 (I think).

Overall I enjoyed this map even if it is a little basic and a bit empty in places, as I say, sometimes an easier going map can be just what you're looking for. I believe this is the authors first scenario, it is a fine effort with no errors.

I really enjoyed playing this map. The invasions are far from too difficult at normal. But I personallt prefer it that way. It gives the game more of a castle sim instead of constantly fighting off invasions.
The other reviewer complained that the balance was terrible, I thought it pretty good. With long periods of quiet between moderately strong invasions.
The creativity and map design weren't extrordinary, I did enjoy being able to put in multiple walls and moats by placing my keep in the northeast corner. More then one signpost might have led to a harder mission. I pretty much had a strong wall where the invasions came from, and it wasn't really broken but one time.
The story exists and gives adequate flavor to the map. But is nothing outstanding.

Overall... A very castle sim map. With occasional diversions. I liked it. I prefer to build the castle from scratch. Nice job.
