Beginning Of An Empire-Updated Version

Author File Description
Lord Swainy II
File Details
Map Size: 200x200 (Small)
Difficulty: Normal
Minimap:
It is the early years for Crusaders in the Sahara Desert and it is the time to start the conflict with the Arabians.
You are to build a small castle by high land and gather resources and gain some popularity.
Stone, wood and pitch are nearby but iron ore is a fair distance from your keep, which is used to produce swords and metal armour.
Unfortunatly, Saladin has heard of Crusaders appearing around the Sahara and has ordered the whole desert to be searched, but your area will take a while to get to.

NEW!:I have updated the map acording to the review, making it more challanging. There also is more detail in the landscape.
Enjoy!

Dianna125 This was an enjoyable map to play. It took me a couple to times to get things started - trying to decide what to build first. I would have liked to see more "bad" events. Towards the end I felt that I was just waiting for ale to be produced. You might try shortening the time that the player has to complete the goals. Once I figured everything out I was able to complete this mission rather quickly. Despite all that, I liked that there was a variety of goals to complete and having the iron so far away really made me think about when I was going to build certain things! I'd love to see an updated version of this mission!

peter2008 Have played this unique map a many times and am still fascinated by the concept. Lots of thrill provided on a small map.
Food is rare, wood is precious, and trading does not exist. So to keep population low (not necessarily as low as the author requests) many workers will have to change jobs several times!
Hint: one may feel relieved remembering that half of the wood is given back when buildings are destroyed.
Remark: really hated those hop beetles. Fortunately noticed that the time-limit is still too huge.
Very good eco job, definitively belongs to my favourites!
