Chancellor's FAQs - Map Editor
After creating a multiplayer map I try to play the map and my keep explodes.
This problem was resolved in patch v1.2, which it is recommended you download and install. It is caused by creating a map, placing keeps and then adding more than one stockpile to a keep. If you edit the map and replace the keeps, do not place extra stockpiles, then save the map which will solve the problem.
I created a map and the Lord never shows up.
If you press ALT & V while in your map within the map editor this will respawn the Lord next to his keep. Save the map and the Lord will appear when you play the map.
Why do all the animals die in the multiplayer maps?
We found the animals were causing connection problems with multiplayer games and therefore we kill them off as a game starts.
How do I stop the trees from growing in the map editor? / How do I pause the map editor?
If you press ALT & H this will pause the map editor.
I've created a map but the enemy doesn't attack me?
Check whether you have placed a signpost in the map; this is where the enemy will appear. The signpost can be found within the edit features section. If you have placed a signpost you may have reached the sprite limit.
My invasions don't show up completely.
This is because the sprite limit has been reached in the game. Reduce the amount of buildings, animals and troops you have on-screen.
I'm making a large map for two players. I've placed the blue and orange keeps, yet they are never there when I start the multi-player game?
Try replacing the keeps as small stone keeps and resave the map.
I built a map in free build mode and want to play the map in a multiplayer game.
The following will allow you to play a free build map in multiplayer. Find the name of the free build save game within the Stronghold saves folder. Copy and rename this file from a .sav file to a .map file and place it within the maps folder. Load Stronghold and go into the map editor and load the map. Press ALT & , and change the map type from 'Just Build' to a multiplayer map type. Now edit this map and add in the appropriate number of keeps and buildings for the other player(s), save this map and once you have given the other player(s) a copy of the map you should be able to play it.
