Main Castle Buildings

This is the main castle tab. It includes the descriptions of the various main buildings and the different kind of barracks. Not all of the main buildings can be selected at the start of a scenario.

Main buildings

These are either placed at the beginning or are already on the map when the scenario starts. You sometimes have a choice to place different ones. Their main difference is the height and space for archers on the roof.

Armoury

The armoury is needed to store weapons. All workshops will bring their weapons and armour to this square building. When it's full, you'll need either to equip some soldiers, sell some of its content or build a new armoury. Note this building should be built next to the existing one, so make sure you have enough space.

Wood: 10

Barracks

This is one of the most important buildings in your Stronghold as it allows you to recruit and train peasants and turn them into killing machines. Once the barracks are built you can start building your army, but be sure you have enough bored peasants available.
Note that the actual space taken by a barracks includes some courtyard, so you should be careful when you place it.
I'm still not sure what the difference between the wooden and the stone barracks is, other than the needed resources.

Wooden barracks:

  Stone: 15

Walls

Walls come in two flavours wooden and stone.
The wooden ones only work as protection and can not be used to position troops upon. They can not be assaulted by ladder man either, but all troops can chop their way through them.
The stone ones can be used provide a place for troops to walk on (except for siege engines and knights) You will need either a tower, gatehouse or staircase to give access to this level. For additional protection stone walls can be crenelated. Crenelation makes it harder for the enemy to hit the troops stationed on your walls.
Both walls can be stacked to increase the thickness of the wall, or used to provide extra protection to gatehouse or towers. Stronghold Crusader introduces a lower height stone wall, but lacks the wooden ones.

Cost
Wooden wall:
Wood: 1 per 2 segments of wall
Stone wall (per segment):
Stone: 1 per 2 segments of wall
Stone crenelation (per segment):
