Hi, im Phil Cassidy im a modder (not the bad kind) i've modded several games GTA, Metal Gear Online 3 (Bandana mod & free customization mod), Metal Gear Survive and Stronghold Crusaders (just now)
I'm a big fun of customization, that is why i like to modify my game as much as possible, i always try to do it via coding or memory editing like in this case.
I've play Stronghold crusaders since child, no other strategy game has the magic of Stronghold, AI with personalities is not something you usually find out there.

Lets get to what matters:

Change the colour of your army to whichever you want.

First, you gotta download Cheat Engine.

Second, open your stronghold game, go to the Skirmishes menu, choose the opponents you wanna face, the map you wanna play, options, etc.

Open your Cheat Engine, open the process of your game (click the computer in the upper left corner, go to the tab "processes" >Stronghold exe

after that you gotta start a scan, Pay attention:

TICK THE "HEX" box ✓
SCAN TYPE: Search for this array
VALUE TYPE: Array of byte

in VALUE introduce this:
01 00 00 00 03 00 00 00 04 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 06 00 00 00 05 00 00 00 07 00 00 00 08 00 00 00
Hit SCAN, Two values should appear.
Double click the second one (00AB6E58)

It should be added to your list below
Tick the box to the left, this is necessary because it will freeze the value, otherwise when you start the match, the game will reset it.

alright, now modify the value, the one that you care is the forth one:
01 00 00 00 03 00 00 00 04 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 06 00 00 00 05 00 00 00 07 00 00 00 08 00 00 00
Change that value to any of the 8 colours that exist in the game.(remember to interchange the colours, so you don't have two armies of the same colour, if you change to cyan change cyan to red.)

Blue - 01
Red - 02
Orange - 03
Yellow - 04
Purple - 05
Black - 06 <--Everyone's favourite
Cyan - 07
Green - 08

And that should do it, now you can save this as a table and not worry about doing all the steps all over again.

There are other interesting things that can be done via memory editing for example you can play together with an IA in the same castle, so for example you make a very strong castle with the aiv village editor, while you can focus on attack the ai will take care of the economy etc.

Alright that's it for now, cheers!

This is very interesting! Well, we have seen ability to change player color, but not this way I think.

But what I found the most interesting is being able to let AI handle the castle economy while you do other things! Also, that would make me like Richard the Lionheart, and the AI would be like John Lackland.

Pity that Firefly hasn't introduced that in their games by now. I usually play with similar castle layouts, so I wouldn't even feel handicapped with this. True, I also often need to improvise, but still, very useful. They could have done it by offering the played some pre-made castles for human player, or player could even be able to play with an AI lord's castle. Or, the player could make the design of the castle on their own. Quite interesting!

Besides, although I find that handy for experienced players for obvious reasons, this would be very convenient for new players as well. It would be helpful for new players. What is more, as it seams that almost all new games are pretty fast, as if the new generations simply want to start a game, and finish it of in maximum one or few hours. They seam to want to simplify things. This would help those players have an exciting game full of fighting, raiding the enemy, etc., without worrying about much details.

I could say how Firefly could even make it so the player can easily change the design of the castle during the game, so that the AI adopts, but I'm clearly overthinking.
