Lord Brukner stood there looking for the best place for the keep, his small group had been chased to this point by Sir Robert, the old castle now in ruins, time to build a new castle, their run was lite and got them well ahead of Sir Robert and his slow moving troops.

There was nowhere to run, the old dock area was run down and no boats to jump into, more sea on the west side and if that wasn't trouble enough, bandits were holed up on the east side of the valley, they even had to fight them to get this far.

The land here was good farmland and enough wood to build their new village, there was even a small stone quarry close by, the bear cave would have to be dealt with soon or the few peasants they had wouldn't be able to supply enough food not to mention the bandits will likely be coming around to cause some trouble, hopefully the last of our troops will show up in time to help.

So Lord Brukner and his small group built a keep and settled in. The rest of the story is up to you the player, build your castle and don't forget that Sir Robert is still coming for your head.

This is the first map I've made for SH3, it's an accumulation of learning how the editor and the script works, giving us this map to play with, there are a few things not available, iron mines or pitch rigs, no stone walls or towers, you can make 2 goods and buy 1 for crowns. Your goal for the win is to achieve 90 popularity, and all of the goods are available for this. You can cheat on popularity but that just means you won't get to enjoy the map.

Thanks saw959, whats going on that you can't play it, is it a technical problem or to hard?

A tip: apples will not feed your people use cheese instead then meat and bread later.

Place hops for ale right away to gain the popularity.

"why the total score is 2.5 when the average would be higher than 3?"

Oh, good point, I'll have it looked into. I'll have to leave the review for demonstrative porpoises for the time being.

I can see why, if you divide the score by 4 you get 3.1, but the balance is 0, so we have to divide by 5 for the proper score leaving a score of 2.5. Only 4 categories have been filled in with the fifth one "balance" left out.


Maybe you could ask if the reviewer could complete the review.

Playability: 3.5
The map worked well. No bugs encountered other than woodcutters wouldn't cut the trees in the slope to the south of the keep.
The enemy attacked as they should, not leaving any troops behind standing around doing nothing. Played for a couple of hours and the attacks kept coming as expected.
An additional win condition would be nice because as it is now you can win even from the start by just increasing food rations.

Balance: 3
If you destroy the bear cave early on, which isn't very hard with the troops available from the beginning, the map tend to be on the easy side. But otherwise well balanced.

Creativity: 3
Liked the docks but I would like some sort of explanation for the reinforcements arriving from there.

Map Design: 2.5
Good basic geography but a bit too simple map design overall. Add some more variation and perhaps make it more of a challenge getting resources?

Story/Instructions: 4
Nice and easy to understand story and instructions.

Overall this is a decent map and I would like to see more maps from you Sir_Vet. Thanks!

silvercyclone I just played the map and really enjoyed it. The Only thing I'd change is that I'd add another win condition.. such as : once the popularity level is reached, this could trigger a decent size invasion that you'd have to prepare for. This would eliminate any chance of manipulating popularity early on, thus being destroyed in a semi-large invasion. Overall I really enjoyed the map layout and look forward to playing any other versions of it that you may make.
