Hi, thanks for looking at my scenario.

Your father, the King, is away fighting to regain lost counties. In his abscence he has given you your first mission, you must oversee arms production at Fratton Castle and have the weapons ready for his return.However, your uncle, Doubletongue the Untrustworthy now resides in Fratton Castle and is not happy having to hand control to you. He has never liked you and would delight in seeing you fail the King, but knows full well he can't openly act against you. Preying upon your naivety he requests you pay him 2500 gold as 'rent' for him to leave the Castle, and you may have to agree, for likewise you couldn't possibly kill him and take the Castle by force (could you?), he is the King's brother after all and has the loyalty of the local woodsmen. Both before and after you control the Castle work the limted population hard to achieve your goals, they should respond well. Be wary of Doubletongue though, he demands payment by December 1184 (otherwise he may lose patience with you) and has been known to use mercenary armies to meet his ends before. Good luck young Prince ...

This is an ecovasion map with an experimental cede action near the beginning, I guess you could call it an "eco-cede-invasion" map! It has been designed to play at normal level and I think the economics would make it near impossible to play higher. Personally I've not played a map like this before, but thats not to say it hasn't been done. Your ultimate goal is to have manufactured the required weapons by the end of the game, upon the King's return. You should really cede the Castle by economic means, but good old fashioned violence might be worth a try at least once.

Unfortunately there is one basic flaw in that if you cede the castle by payment, the gold required does not leave your treasury - (I can't see a way round this as yet, although you'll need to spend once you inherit the larger population).

If anyone is having trouble with this map, please e-mail me for a walkthrough or tips or anything.

I would be very interested to know what people think of this map and welcome any comments, criticisms etc., either as a review or in the forum, and if you can improve upon this idea I would love to see the results. Also, please feel free to open up the script and alter whatever you want.

Seems like this is an oft-missed map in the downloads section. Strange that it should be, however, as this is a rather good map and very creative!

Playability 4: Great fun! Clever use of various events and suchlike and a very original setup for the map. Very enjoyable, long, and! It's got that factor in it that makes it a good laugh to play. It's even got two entirely different ways to play it from the start-a rarity indeed!

Balance 4: I'm almost tempted to give this a 5. :) There were several times when I thought "Argh the enemy army is so huge!" but then managed to just fight them off. I think it's that "almost losing but then winning" factor that was quite fun. ^_^ Then again, I was being a bit lame trying to raise an army. Found it somewhat difficult to keep food coming in, however-I found myself with an empty granery several times. Still, it's great, and was probably just an indication of my lack of ability. :P

Creativity 5: Superb! One of the most creative maps ever made for SH. Clever use of events and the Cede, two ways to go through the senario depending on how you choose to take the castle, and just some very nice touches that made playing this map great fun. Really felt like I was playing something new and original!

Map Design 4: A lovely valley and surrounding terrain, and a nice castle present. A lot of effort has gone into it and it's lovely to look at. It feels very natural and you could almost imagine finding a place like it in real life. :)

Story/instructions 4: Great work here, also. An interesting story and excellent instructions polish this map up well.

Well worth a download-more people should find this gem! :D

JRodo Who would miss a map from BSR? Tried it several times on normal and failed, then time-out on easy (didn't manage swords and armor), because I had to recruit swordsmen to save the lord. But that's just my skill. The map, as always, is so original and exciting. I'll come back to it when I do the rest of the collection. If there is anybody still playing this old version, do not miss this one, or any of Brave Sir Robin, for that matter. Thank you Sir Knight.
