East German Attack The Final Battle – What a name. This is a nice little siege map. The author has basically turned the nation of Germany into an island. You can either defend or attack the East German state. As a quick note there is a spelling error in the title of this map that looks really bad (batlle) should have two T's and only one L. Presentation is everything they say.
Playability 3/5 this is a fun defensive map and better than the authors previous submit. The AI attacks incredibly well. The massive attacking force assaults the entire outer wall, which defends the river Elbe. On a normal level of difficulty this map is a good challenge and very fun. Unfortunately after defeating the attacking horde, I did not receive a victory notice and thus the siege would not end. Some more practice with map fundamentals is required.
Balance 3/5 this map is far better defending than attacking. The defending troops are primarily ballistic units. Once the attacking AI breaks through the outer defenses these units are quickly dispatched. You do have a good number of knights at your disposal but that is about all. Pitch and kill pits are well placed and are really your only help towards the end as the enemy force nears your Keep. A decent effort in this category but this map is truly a defensive siege only. As an attacker this defending troop combination is quickly overrun.
Creativity 4/5 this is a nice idea an island shaped like the nation of Germany. I like the incorporation of the River Elbe. I am assuming the freestanding towers represent the major East German cities such as Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, and Breslau to name a few. It would have been a little better if they were not so quickly overrun. Other than that I really liked the whole idea and layout of this map, Good Stuff.
Map Design 4/5 the map has a great look, nearly a 5 IMO. In the corner is another small island graveyard such as was in McCullen Castle III. There is some really nice terrain modeling and the author should be commended.
Story/Instructions 5/5 still a few grammatical errors but far better than the author’s previous storyline. The download page gives you an understanding of the author’s idea and the launch page before you begin the siege has a good story. Overall, there is some nice work in this department.Considering English is not this authors first language, I rate this a 5.
In Short- A fun and challenging little defensive siege that needs just a few corrections to be some really nice work.
