'It was night again when ere news came. A man rode in haste from the fords at Osgiliath saying that a host had been issued from Minis Morgul and was already drawing nigh to
Osgiliath; and it had been joined by regiments from the South, Haradrim, cruel and tall.
"And we have learned,"said the messenger," that the balck captain leads them again and the fear of him has passed before him over the river." With those ill-boding words the third day closed since Pippen came to Minas Tirith. Few went to rest, for samll hope had any now that even Faramir could hold the fords at Osgiliath for long.'
This Osgiliath is a very short map and is not intended to be taken very seriously. It is quite hard and quite addictive. It is our representation of the first fight at the beggining of The Return of The King, when the orcs finaly take Osgiliath.
This map should be played on NORMAL but I do belive it makes no difference what difficulty level you play on as all the men are already on the map.
We would like to thank Talos for playtesting
Enjoy!

Playability - I liked this map so much that I played it on all difficulty levels except easy, which would have been too easy to even try. It's a very nice battle that is quite short, but fun to play nevertheless.
Balance - I only lost about half of my troops on Very Hard difficulty level and I had to re-start only once, after which I was able to come up with a working strategy which turned out to be almost too effective. The map could have been a bit harder.
Creativity - While a ruined castle isn't a new idea, it seemed like a fresh concept in this scenario. I also liked the idea of the orcs attacking from little boats. Nothing too special, but creative enough to deserve a 4.
Map Design - This map has probably the best ruined city/castle I've ever seen. I really liked the atmosphere of the city. Not much to comment on as the whole map was basically just one huge ruined city, but it looked so good and since there weren't any map design flaws, I rated map design 5.0.
Story/Instructions - A nice little story, that clearly and briefly explains what's going on. There were a few spelling mistakes, but nothing too serious. I'm not too familiar with LoTR, but I believe this is a good representation of the original story.
Final comments: This is a good map worth downloading. It's not a very challenging map, but it's fun to play and the map design is great. |

This was very fun, by far the best Osgiliath. I especially liked the orcs coming from the boats. With the pebbles all over the ground it made the map look a little busy though.
Zerotide's Grading Criteria: Ingenuity: A (Excellent) Replay: C (Average) Eye Candy/Map Design: A (Excellent) Story/Introduction: B+ (Very Good)

Great map! out of all of your maps i think this is probably my favorite. I see that your a regular to the site and have downloaded most of your maps. the only thing i thought let this stage slip a bit in marks is the fact that zerotide pointed out it looks too busy but apart from that you should both be proud of what you have ceated
GREAT JOB!!!! |

Playability- was great i tried it on every difficulty and won on normal and hard. Very hard was way to many enemy. It kept me playing for a bout 1/2 hour and thats pretty good when u talking about me.
Balance- on normal i beat it first go
This is ok but it should have taken a few goes on normal to beat it.
Creativity- this is the first osgiliath so i had to rate it top.
Map design- looks great it is so well done good job here.
Story- was a good story but its out of the book based so i dont think it deserves 5.
Overall i think my score matches the map nicely and im am awaiting you minas tirith you are currently making |

Wow. Nice map.
You represented the movie kinda well but you should have included a bit more movie-based. Quite fun to play. Very playable though i think you should actually have instead of enemy just charging 1 month to move troops into position. Maybe if you put men hiding behind pillars on stand ground before putting them to defencive might have given a better movie-based map though thats hard. Overall very fun map. If u can make an invasion of Osgiliath and only relying on man power to defend Osgiliath. Just a suggestion. |
