The Conquest V

The fifth part of the Conquest series marks the end of the Conquest for Sallium and the feath of the rat. It is a cede of a coastal town, called Salting. The wolves re-enforcements have been delayed, by accident or on purpous, leaving the rat to his miserable fate. Should ypu capture the last foothold which the rat has, you must kill him and defend yourself from the wolfs swordsmen...

The Conquest in general follows the path of prince Edward and many other characters in their conquest for peace in the islands of Hertoin. The first five maps will be set in Sallium and the last five in Dinlathia. As well as the prologue video which can be downloaded here there will be a epilogue video.

The attacking part of the map is relatively easy and is the same on any difficulty level. We recommend you play on NORMAL but experienced players or anyone that finds that the invasions are too easy feel free to play on HARD and VERY HARD. Likewise, if you feel you cannot face the wolfs wrath, play on a EASY.

Please note - In this cede scenario you only have to kill the enemy Lord to capture the castle - all of thejir remaining men will then become yours. Hence do not kill many of their men at all as you will need them to fend off the invasions.

I would like to thank Zerotide for playtesting!

Thanks a lot !

Lord Arthus A very enjoyable map to play. your work is really good and well set out. With this map the balance was nearly right as i had only a few men left over. design was simple but effective. I feel that the only thing that let this map down was the terrain. In most of your maps in the past you have put a great deal of work into the terrain but in my opinion the terrain was fairly plain around the fort although the ocean clifs looked great and the fort was also of high standard. you guys are truly great designers and i look forward to the many more maps you create.
your friend Lord Arthus
StenSture EXCELLENT !!
This map was very enjoyable !!! I lift my hat in salute to a (two?) great map-author(s) !!!!

Playability (5):
I have not played Stronghold for a while. I too find designing very fun. I am very very glad that I downloaded this map. Though I did not beat it yet (played 3 times last night, and will have another go tonight :) ), the map was very fun to play !!
I usually dont review until I have beaten a map, but in this case I could help myself !

Balance (4):
I played at normal level. Maybe this grade should be a "5" also. I am not the best of players, and as I said I did not beat it in 3 times. This however I think was more my faoult than the maps. I would have like just some more time to build up my army before the wolf came and had me for breakfast :) This however may have been different if I had followed the instructions and gone fore the lord. I however couldnt help myself (to much fun) and went for all enemies.

Creativity (5):
I found that a lot of work had gone in both the story, scripting and the map design. This shows!! Very good. I liked that you had fixed so that I could take over the castle. Creativity shows in a map made with "lots of heart" - this map has it !!

Map design (5):
The design was great!. I just loved the coastal landscape and the rivers. Also the way the castle was placed upon the map - it both looked good and "played good". Many nice little treats here and there on the map, if you take the time (pause) to look around - VERY GOOD !!

Story/Instructions (5):
This is the way to do it !!! NAT set a high standard in all parts of map making, and the story bind them together!!
There is apart from the story a both instructions and hints in a separate file. You also get a minimap in the package.

Thanks for the map NAT !! Keep them coming. Since this is the first map I have downloaded in a while I have missed the first maps of the series. I am sure that the overall value of the maps get even better if following the maps from start to end. I will be downloading the first maps :)
