Alaware Castle has fallen, the squabbles of local Lords have destroyed the Castle and it now lies as an empty shell. With a few good men you set off for the fourth attempt at rebuilding this stronghold and securing the County for your King once again.
It has been declared that the succesful Knight in this task will be given control of the castle once the mission is complete. However, not only do you have to rebuild the Castle and rid the County of its enemies, but also produce weapons, iron, and gold to send back to aid your Kings forces.
You already have a few supplies of stone and timber, and also some food and ale stocks, but you will need to establish a thriving economy to restore the Castle to its former glory.

This should play as a 'classic' invasion map and was designed to be played at 'normal' level.
I hope you enjoy the scenario ...
Well, I grant that this is a late review of an “older map”, but I’ve been wondering for quite some time why Alaware Castle has never been rated before. I have to say that I didn’t regret playing such a great but inconspicuous map by Brave Sir Robyn. If you are searching for a challenging scenario that is perfectly tuned and where all events are sensitively synchronized – here you have it!
You start on a small irregularly formed plateau, with a handful lost souls by your side, in the midst of a ruined castle that you have to repair or to rebuild, just as you like. Don’t believe that there will be relaxing moments in this thrilly scenario; you’ll permanently be busy to do something. Economically you have to fulfil different objectives (maces, iron, leather arms…) and simultaneously to build up a strong defensive army to be prepared for the forthcoming increasing invasions of four opponents (Rat, Snake, Pig, and Wolf). They all will come up from various directions, so you will never know where you have to concentrate your defence that will require a quick reaction.
Balance is superb! I’ve played on easy and normal, and it’s quite tough on easy, too. More likely, the normal level has a tendency to hard, in my opinion.
The bizarre and wild countryside is well modelled and it characterizes a type of landscape full of mysteries and danger. There are sufficient areas that you can use as farmland, necessary for a stable food supply through the entire game, but beware of the threatening big fires, too…!
The story gives you an overall view of the past history and an exact description of the current status quo, that let us fear the worst…
I can highly recommend this unique invasion-map, which is in deed another masterpiece by Brave Sir Robyn, very instructive for both newbie and experienced players with nerves of steel.
I don’t intend to give more secrets away – lots of surprises await you!
