In about the Year 1000, the Duchy of Brittany, in order to defend it's borders, established the fortified region known as the Marches of Brittany around towns such as Fougeres, Vitre and Chateaubriant. The local Lord responsible for the organisation of this in the Fougeres area took full advantage of it's excellent site: In the Shelter of High Cliffs, on a rocky outcrop, in the middle of a marshy area, and within a meander of the river Nancon. In 1166, the Plantgenet king of England, Henry II, besieged and burnt down this first wooden castle, which was immediately rebuilt in stone.
You start with a developed castle with quite a few men, and defend against a lot of attacks from all four enemies.
Tips: Try to defend the Small, fully moat section as best as you can, as this is one of the most defendable areas.
This was a good fun map from Lord Thingol - I enjoyed playing it although I was quickly overun! On my first attempt they landed a siege tower on the second attack - disaster! I played again, being more careful and survived well but the invasions just wouldn't end! There were simply too many. Good fun to play though, the AI were superb, I congratulate you on that.
The design was unorthadox for the map, a castle built into a large circular hill but it worked quite nicely, could have been a little more creative though, maybe pushing the castle up into the top right hand corner with higher cliffs implying that the castle is up aginast large mountains. There was some good castle work however, especially with the moats.
Storyline was agian perfectly adequate and easily worth a 3. Again could be more creative, addition of a minimap would be beneficial as well. Just having a mimimap on the description page brightens the whole thing up and it can make a difference. Overall a good simple and playable invasion map, a little too hard and maybe a bit more work on map design and you could get the score right up. Keep at it!
