Deus Vult - "God wills it"
Hello, and welcome to the download page of Deus Vult. Deus Vult is a classic invasion map with no economic goals to meet. You play as green and your enemies are Rat, Pig, and the Wolf.
Eyecandy, large fortresses, and large battles can be found contained within this map. This is a challenging map, and for the average player, easy mode is my recommended level of play. I personally play on Normal Mode, but that is after testing the map fifty times, so I am very used to how the map plays out.
You have possession of 3 rings of defense, the Pass of the Ancients, a large stone gateway that allows access to your lands. Next, Habicht Blut, a besieged town after sufferring bombardment from your trebuchets. Lastly, the great fortress of Sae'rid is where you reside and is by far the greatest off the three defenseive positions.
Hopefully you will take some time to download this map and play it out. This map will give you some good, clean fun, and it will test your defending skills along with your economic set-up. If you take a a faulty economic route, you will not be able to produce enough soldiers to hold off the sieging force.
The story and other notes are included with the zip file.
This map is very difficult! It may take a few times of restarting before victory can be achieved!

Good luck with Deus Vult, and review it if you get the chance.
Special thanks to Brave Sir Robin, Adolf, NAT, and Jax Omen for playtesting!

Congratulations Lord Blood Hawk on a very good map. I enjoyed playing this map until the point where I keep on dying.
Playability: 4
Playability gets a 4 because the scenario itself was fun to play, and there were lots of interesting things around. The only problem, for me, was that I prefer the instant fight in a fully-built castle kind of map, but I won't let that get in the way of your rating too much.
Balance: 3
Only a 3 here because I kept on dying about half way through the invasions on easy, so for me it wasn't perfectly balanced.
Creativity: 4
A 4 here as the map has lots of new ideas in it, and also looks very good. The castle is said to be very strong, but in my opinion it isn't all that strong.
Map Design: 5
The reason I gave a 5 here is that the map is just really well made. There are no huge areas of plain terrain and everywhere has something interesting nearby.
Stoty/ Instructions: 4
I gave the story a 4 because it has some interesting parts in it, and it is quite detailed, but not exciting enough for me. It does however set the mood for the map.
Overall a very good map, the best way to improve it would to man the castles more and also improve the main fortress. By the way, what language/ country do the names come from?

Thank you, Lord Thingol, for the review. If I improved the main fortress, there would be nothing for the player to do. But that, of course is your opinion. Sae'rid is not a word in any language I know of, it just got pulled out of thin air. Habicht Blut, however, is German for "Hawk Blood". It sounded kind of barbaric, so I went with it. |
