Minas Tirith by WarLord Designs.
That night Pippin and Gandalf speak at one of the many balconies of Minas Tirith.
Pippin: So I imagine this is just a ceremonial position, I mean they don’t actually expect me to do any real fighting, do they?
Gandalf: You’re in the service of the steward now, your going to have to do what you’re told Perigin Took.
Pippin: It’s so quiet.
Gandalf: It’s the deep breath before the plunge.
Pippin: I don’t want to be in a battle, but waiting on the edge of one I can’t escape is even worse. Is there any hope Gandalf? For Frodo and Sam?
Gandalf: There never was much hope, just a fool’s hope. Gandalf turns and smiles at Pippin. He then looks towards the mountains of Mordor.
Gandalf: Our enemy is ready, his full strength gathered, not only orcs men as well, legions of Haradrim in the south, mercenaries from the coast. All will answer Mordor’s call. This will be the end of Gondor as we know it; here the hammer stroke will fall hardest. If the river is taken, if the garrison at Osgiliath falls the last defence of this city will be gone.
Pippin: We’ve got the White Wizard, that’s got to count for something.
Pippin smiles at Gandalf, he looks away into the night. Gandalf.
Gandalf: Sauron has yet to reveal his deadliest servant, the one who will lead Mordor’s armies in war, the one they say no living man can kill. The Witch King of Angmar. You have met him before, he stabbed Frodo. He is the Lord of the Nazgul the greatest of the nine, Minas Morgul is his lair.
As they look out towards Mordor a huge beam of power shoots up into the air. A cloud of fear settles over Minas Tirith. Gandalf puts his hand on Pippin’s shoulder, comforting him as best he can. Gandalf stares into the dark sky.
Gandalf: So we come to it at last, the great battle of our time.
Arthus and I have put alot of time and effort to bring you our representation of Minas Tirith. We would like to thank everyone for their support.
Have fun!

well what can i say.......... your invasions are so accurate at what happened their is so much fun in this map its just amazingly playable.
Balance: 5
the balance is exactly what was in the movie the seven walls the great central column the men everything was excellent well done.
Creativity: 5
i was only going to give you a 4 for creativity as many of these maps have been done before but i just can't its like no other map its full of fun and its pin point accurate to the movie.
Map Design: 5
You have perfect skill at making the excellent cut-through design's of the mountains and you have created an almost exact replica of Minas Tirith its self with the seven walls all perfectly curved around the tall high central collum. this is the reason i gave you a 5 for map design.
Story/Instructions: 5
you gave the story line exactly as the movie goes which makes it easy to know what to do.
Additional Comments:
You simply are a natural at map making keep it up.

I just have to ask that have anybody else a bug that makes those knights become unable to be moved (this seems to happen after a few minutes they breach the wall that keeps them off the game)? |

A fun extended siege! There was plenty to pay attention to throughout the scenario, and gobs of soldiers to fight. Watching the destruction of some of the city was fun, as was establishing a nice death trap for the enemies to fall into. Playing around with the trebuchets was also amusing. I will say the knights did not free themselves in time to take part in the battle. Perhaps with some manual intervention I could have gotten them out faster. I see there were siege towers and some rams scheduled in the invasions, but they never appeared, or at least the engineers never made it to their construction sites. Also, to get the real feel of the siege of Minas Tirith, where the enemy is attacking from all sides, I think more sign posts would have been beneficial.
Balance: 3
On very hard, the only time I really felt threatened was when the final wave of melee troops crashed through my blob of poorly-compacted swordsmen in the wreckage of the front gate. Even then the remaining archers I had at that point made relatively quick work of what was left over. I had to think about what I was doing to an extent, but I feel like this would be a difficult level to lose.
Creativity: 4
A good execution of Minas Tirith. I liked the timed-release knights, even if they didn't make it out in time to make a difference in my case. The way the buildings and walls available in Stronghold were used to recreate a good impression of Minas Tirith and its many terraced and vaulted buildings contributes to this score, as well as the convincingly-done wall-mounted trebuchets.
Map Design: 5
An excellent cityscape. You don't have much time to really look at it, but it's quite intricate, and the fields and mountains are well done also.
Story/Instructions: 5
The story describes the situation and gets the job done.
Additional Comments:
Good for a relatively quick game in a very nicely-crafted city. The scenario instructions suggest that there are many approaches that you can take - why not see what you can come up with? |
