Lord Firannus' Empire. You taste the words. You are the mightiest lord in the kingdom, yes, maybe even the world. You have built a great castle on a hill on a wonderful place called Callienne Fields. Your economy is doing great, everything was perfect. Until now. Whispers reach you of a Lord, mostly feared by everyone who knows his name: Lord Wimington. It is said that he is a master of sieges. Better than you, some says. You punish them. You do not want to pretend to be nervous of this Lord. Though, you must admit to yourself, you are.
Your scouts return with a most terrifying message: Lord Wimington is heading this way, and he is bringing the biggest army they have ever seen! You panic. You don't know what to do. You have never experienced war like this ahead. Most of the people you have sieged hadn't had more then a knife and fork to fight with. This is entirely different. You hurry up to send hundreds of orders, there are weapons to be made, soldiers to be trained and last but not least, people to be fed. Up, men! Up, to arms!
Authors Comments:
This is my latest map, I am quite happy with it, though that isn't weird as i have been working for days with this map. As you can all read, I suck at making stories. But anyway, I hope you all enjoy the map, and PLEASE review it!
A great thanks to NAT and Lady Arcola for giving me ideas from the SD Compendium.
The player is red, but it is NOT a Crusader map.

Playability: 4
The map is great fun to play, however, the scripting is a bit light, a few good events would keep the player more interested. The sieges was great fun to play however.
Balance: 3
The map is too easy, only the first invasion managed to breach my walls, since it caught me off-guard. Again, a few bad events to prevent the player from building up too strong a force would be good.
Creativity: 4
I liked the walled farmlands. Good looking custom drawbridges and the player colour was red for a change.
Map Design: 4
The map looks all natural and very good, however, try not to fit everything into a map, the map felt a bit crowded, so to speak. More detail is also required for a 5. Overall very nice though, and the map worked perfectly with the AI. Good work!
Story/Instructions: 3.5 rounded off upwards
A generous 3.5. The story was a bit short, and perhaps too simple in style. A more advanced plot, more detail (both in language and background story) would increade the score.
Additional Comments:
A great map to play, just too easy. Improve the storyline and make the map a bit harder next time. I don't know if "a few days" is enough time spent on a map really...However, this map turned out to be very nice, despite that. Keep up the good work! |

Thanks for the review, Jasper!
The most you said I should have predicted, and when I testplayed the map on very hard, I saw that it was too easy. Though, on very hard it is getting a little sweat, at least on the final one, and that's what I hoped to achieve. I'm afraid I published the map before it was completed. I regret this.
Tip: Try it on very hard.

I really have no problem with easy maps, but if they are so, then they should be rated as Easy, and perhaps a note could be given in the write-up that the map played best at the harder difficulties. Hope to see more of your work soon. |

Okay. I didn't like this map too much, and I'll tell you why in the next category.
Balance: 2
This was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too easy. It just was. I had no difficulty brushing it off on Very Hard, and when a map is that easy, it ruins the overall game experiance. For me, anyway.
Creativity: 4
Thumbs up on this and map design. Quite good. Being red was a nice change.
Map Design: 4
I throughly enjoyed the look of this map. I liked the two little villages with the drawbridges, and the playing around with walls and terrain was amusing. What brought the score down was castle design. It was basically a box with towers.
Story/Instructions: 3
This is actually more like a 2.6, because the story was a little too simple and short,
Additional Comments: Fix up the castle a bit and spice up the story, and you'll have a real winner.
