Hi all!
This is my first map submitted to SHH.
It was originally submitted to SHK where it recieved very good ratings and comments.
The map is based on the magnificent siege of the white city in the Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
The goal is to not loose a specific number of units and hold of the attackers until a specific date to win.
The map features a new way of approaching a SHC invasion by using pre-placed invading troops. This intesifies the invasions and gives the maker a bit more control over what happens during the course of the game.
The Orc hordes attack very Aggressively. Usually sending in at least 100-150 troops per wave.
This map doesn't have the charge of the Rohirrim or the Dead Army as they were very hard to implement without hitting the sprite limit.
I tried to get the Castle design as accurate as possible with the rings of the city, the trebuchets on the walls and also the paved roads in the last level with the stairs leading up to the great hall of the steward.
Special thanks to X29, LordAussie and others for their continous support during the playtest stage.
Thanks to Brave Sir Robin for the black orcs.
And many thanks to Stronghold Knights for their immense support during the making of the map and for their tutorials.
I hope you enjoy playing this map as much as I enjoyed making it.
Well then, what are you waiting for?

The map is WAY TO HARD. So not playable.
Balance: 1.5
There really is no balance. The enemy horribly outnumbers you, the only thing you can really expect to do, is lose… Over and over again. Also, once (it seemed like) 20 or 30 troops die, you lose, very unfair. The size of the enemy force is way to big, for the size of your force. (I know your suppose to be outnumbered), but you are way, way, way outnumber. You over did the “outnumbering.”
Creativity: 4.5
Good map, except for a few flaws. The front gates houses really should be “Main Gates Houses.” Also, the thing in the middle (not sure what it’s called) well it should be up on the highest part of land, not even with the wall.
Map Design: 5
Good design, no problems.
Story/Instructions: 5
I don’t complain much about stories, you have one, so 5.

very hard. it gave me a challenge.
Balance: 3
like i said very hard. I have beat it but it was not easy. first i pulled all my troops back to the last level. then i built more troops to defend the spot. then a huge fire came wiping out almost their whole army. it took about 5 min for the army to regroup and attack me again. THE ROHERRIM NEVER CAME!!
Creativity: 4

Extremely hard map, I haven't won it yet, put more soldiers in the walls
Balance: 4
The game is difficult but fun, It is weird but I had fun seeing how the orcs harrassed with everything
Creativity: 5
*Drools* In this part this map has to have a 10.0, It's magnificent!!!
Map Design: 5
The enemies attack very nicely and no errors when they attack, they are very aggresive just like they were orcs.
Story/Instructions: 4.5
The instructions and stroy introducing the map are great.
Additional Comments:
Here is a list I suggest to do in the map:
-DO NOT eliminate enemy troops because of their size.
-You should put more soldiers in the walls and some knights outside recreating the rohirrim, some swordsmen recreating the other foot soldiers that were in the battle.
-Eliminate the condition of if you lose 50 soldiers, you lose.

Thanks for the reviews everyone.
Please Note:
1.) I have already stated that i DIDN'T include the Rohirrim Charge OR the Army of the Dead because of Sprite Limit Problems.
2.)The map is very much possible to win. It is hard I admit but it is definately not impossible. If you decide to stay put and place units in specific areas, victory will most definately will not be yours. Instead use some strategy. You have a large castle in your hands and use it wisely. here are a few tips:
a.)I would highly encourage moving your soldiers as a group and using hit and run tactics on specific units.
b.)Also, ambushing and using choke points to your advantage is an advisable strategy.
c.)The Cidatel is a powerful position of power due to its size and positioning. Use it as a strong last stand.
d.)Retreating to different levels is probably the smartest trick in your arsenal. Time your troops movements and you can lay the most amount of damage upon the enemy. Also, retreating can also help in staging timely ambushes.
And Finally, at the barracks, you can find some recruits. Closing down some industries and recruiting the units BEFORE the enemy attacks is most advisable.
And remember: "It is not important to have more soldiers than your enemy, Globally. but to have more soldiers than your enemy at the Choke point!" Napolean Bonaparte.
Hope these tips helped.

I know you did'nt put them because of the size, but at least put 10 or some more crossbowmen in the walls.
Those are nice tips, I nearly won!!
You should put them in a readme when you download the file. |
