Story can be read after download but here in short
After the first wave of envasions you realise that the sttlement cannot held out against the 2nd wave of invasions, you think of a list in order to fool the Snake and flee to anather county.
The county is overrun by wolves so it will be hard to settle there, in order to siege a castle of the Snake an army must be build first, make the weapons needed within the given time.
Author's Note's
This map is a bit like an economics mission but has an invasion in it, many wolves will attack you in the start and therefore it's smart to use up your 2 starting bows (forgot this in tips section)
I hope you will all enjoy this map, review it and/or give some tips for the next chapter (will be sieging a castle)
enjoy!

Playability: 5
The map was very enjoyable to play. There was some dead time, but it was needed, since you always needed to expand your economy. The fighting parts of the map are small, but fun.
Balance: 4
Very nice, and although I beat it my first attempt at Normal, I had to stay alert all the time, and it was real close that I failed to get in the last leather amrour. However, the plague is a bit out of orders, since you're not allowed to build any apothecaries.
Creativity: 4
I'll stick with my "It's hard to judge creativity since everything's been done before". This is a very nice back-to-basics mission, not featuring anything new (don't get me wrong, that doesn't in any way have to be negative, I like simple maps), but is deservant of a 4. Partly for the nice little matshalnds to the north coming out from the hills, partly because I don't want to reduce the score =P
Map Design: 4
The hills to the NE and SW and the marshlands looks very nice, so does the field around the keep, but the rest of the map could use a little more detail. Highly realistiv design though, and the marsh coming out from the cliffs is fantastic.
Story/Instructions: 5
The story is nice and well written. It could perhaps be a little longer, but that's no problem with me.
Additional Comments:
A very nice little map from DS_M. Hope to see more work from you soon. |

thanks for the review, what did you exactly ment with some more detail could be added on the map? becouse if i'd raise terrain a little bit on some places you would probably not be able to build the buildings you'd want to...
also, the plague was coused becouse you'd overstocked meat, i forgot to add this in the notes, it's supposed to be a warm time of the year where lots of meat would rot when exposed to heat it was also put in to keep you busy maintaining the popularity
glad you liked the map

Parts of the map are simply plain grass. You could add a mix of dirt, grass (the land named "grass" in the editor), stones (both kinds) and possibly pebbles.
That way, you'll achieve a better looking field, that also looks better on the minimap.
Nice with the detail of the meat-caused plague =D[Edited on 02/11/06 @ 03:50 PM]

"Parts of the map are simply plain grass"
hm...do you mean the wast part and the part behind the river?...it's true i quite forgot about those but does it matters that much?
"the land named grass in the editor"
well...i'm into stronghold long enough to achieve that level of knowledge[Edited on 02/17/06 @ 10:28 AM]

I ment both the west part, the area at the other side of the river, and the area in the SE corner. Of course it matters! You can't just detail the parts where you play, the entire map must look good, even places where you can't build anything, or get any troops to, should be properly landscaped. |

SE corner?
do you mean the corner at the signpost with the bit of march also coming from the mountain?
i did put quite some variety in grass and mud there...or am i wrong? |
