This level is based in 1042 and you can only build wooden things. It is set on a landscape with a river running down from the top of the level. The best part of the level (atleast I think it is) is the Waterfall which i think is really good (comments please). This level has no goals and is all about building.
P.s sorry about the level being called two HALFS and not Two HALVES. |

Playability: Reviewing this map is easy, unfortunately for all the wrong reasons. I played for about half an hour, but simply lost interest after that. There wasn't anything redeeming about the map at all.
Balance: I was disappointed with this map overall, it doesn't play well even though there are no bugs (no events to cause bugs, I admit).
Creativity: Having a scenario based around wooden walls and towers is fine, but by doing this you are severely limiting the fun you can have. I don't agree with placing the keep and men at the start, it takes something away from the map. Sorry.
Map Design: I have tried to look for good points on this, but really can't find any. There are too many negatives here: a large outcrop of stone that doesn't look natural (any why have stone when you can't build stone walls, or even mine stone for that matter), the river ends abruptly at the bottom of the map (there are clear grass tiles available to the eye) and the use of the terrain tool is very basic. Again, nothing grabbed me here to say it was a well designed map.
Story/Instructions: a little bit more effort here than in other categories, but 2 given for quantity, rather than quality.
Overall, a poor map it has to be said. |

Playability: The limit on the buildings really annoy me, they really do limit the fun of the game, but not being able to place another stockpile really got this rating down, I think you didn't mean to and we can easily solve it in editor but it shouldn't be our task to do this, but remember: always playtest before sending in a map.
Balance: Tricky one to judge in free build, so I just give it a score that is the same as the average.
Creativity: Little creativity in this map, the building limit is just annoying, not creative, that certainly includes the limit on stone walls (why are the stone rocks when you cant get stone anyways). Maybe lifting the limit makes the game more fun.
Map Design: Ok, first I have to agree that the waterfall is a real masterpiece, nice attention to details and no sharp ends, unfortunately you didnt pay the same attention to the rest of the map, the forests look unnatural (let them grow in editor for a while first), the borders of different terrains are unnatural, like the stone rocks: there is grass and then suddenly there is stone, try to pay more attention at this as it limits the fn in the game to.
Story/Instructions: There is a story, but its not one of the best ones I have ever seen, really try to get a good story as this could get your rating down fast.
Overall: Ive seen worse maps, and I sense a good map maker in you if take time. |
