Unfortunately, the game forced me to abridge my story. The full story follows:
Kinelia was originally one of many motte and bailey maps in middle-age England. With the advent of stone walls, the nobles decided to rebuild their castle, but keep the same basic design. In short, a stone motte and bailey. The motte was under construction, and was almost complete (lacking only two turrets) when the architect died of natural causes. His son, who had a dislike for the design, wanted to crenellate the walls of the castle. Unfortunately, the earth supporting the motte was already partially cut to fit the walls. Therefore, the new architect ordered the construction of a second motte, complete with larger towers and crenellated walls. after completing this, the earth was cut to fit the new walls.
There was no garrison at the time, as the citizens were lodging at another castle until construction was complete. After the motte was finished, however, the troops began marching towards the castle to defend it while the bailey was finished. Unfortunately, an invading army captured the motte and held it against the garrison commisioned to defend it. Defeated by their own fortress, the people hid in their neighbor's castle hoping to regroup.
Meanwhile, the conquerors finished the castle with thick, crenellated walls lined in the corners with rounded towers (to protect against catapults longer). Four gates were added: A main gate, and three workers gates. Pikemen were commisioned to watch over the workers so they could report slackers to the lord (who would invariably kill them). Workers enjoyed little protection; no pitch was placed nearby so that the farms could not be burned, no troops were garrisoned to protect them, and only a wood palisade kept them from invader's blades. However, this caused a prosperous castle that thrived for decades.
Update 1.1: Castle was far too easy; lessened Archers, increased foot soldiers and invasion size
Update 1.2: I over-corrected with melee troops; Decreased melee troop size and increased invasion size. |

Darn it, too late!
See, I made a few changes, but forgot to change which map was in the .zip file. The one you downloaded was easier than I anticipated to upload. This has been corrected. :-/ |

Yes, it was too easy I had played on hard mode (not very hard, darn headache of mine :/) and won gracefully :p
I have re-downloaded and this should be alot better hopefully :) |

Ugh. Once again, I managed to make it too easy.
Updated *one* last time. If it's still too easy, well, I've maxed out on the invasion (500 troops is the base) so I can't do much more except pray that the AI doesn't botch it up again. :) |

I downloaded (again :p) and this time, gawd it was very hard (on hard mode lol) and I must of lost like 7 times.. but I did finally manage to beat it ^^
This has to be siege to it's hardest.. I used the troops we were given, I didn't change them ^^
I had one swordsman left and there was only 1 archer left and the lord with very low hp.. I was like.. oh thank gawd! I finally managed to win :p |

Excellent! It's finally what I want, then. Care to review? :D
Oh, and sorry for putting you through that, I had no idea how to balance Siege maps. (Actually, I did have it the first time I played, but then it got too easy, fast.)[Edited on 08/09/06 @ 09:12 PM]

Playability: 4
Very nicely done map, I gave this section a 4 because there was stairs leading up to the towers, and in sieges it's easier to send up a pack of maceman to clear out the archers in the towers and walls.. but apart from that, it was completely playable :)
Balance: 5
The siege force and defending army was perfect for hard mode! You can tell that the creator spent alot of time playtesting it!
Creativity: 5
A stone motte and bailey, very creative ;)
Map Design: 3
The outside was abit plain, but with the help of a large castle cleared up most plain land so this gets a 3 ;)
Story/Instructions: 4.5
An excellent story with a great background to it, great vocabulary too.. i'm not the best story reviewer here, but this in my eyes nets a 4.5
Additional Comments:
Great map.. perfect siege balance. I would love to see you make an economic mission ^^ |
