here's some advice, it takes longer than what you took to make a good map (i have yet to finsih one of mine, been on it for couple of months now). take some more time on the maps you've done and mess around with them some more. see how real you can get the terrain on the minimap to look. also look at maps by Sulis, Surasj (there's more to this name, idk how to spell it) and WarLord_Designs. especially WarLord, he's done some great looking maps.

Yea war does make alot of good ones, this map looks like it took less then 4 hours to compltete honestly. Castle you also forgot to give him advice on how to make a good map. In order to make a good map there are many things you have to put into thought. One major is that your map is realistic looking, honestly do you think that that much iron would randomly be in a giant grassland. And the grass is all the same, not patched or nothing.

technically i did give advice to make it better, but yeah, i did neglect to mention anything bout the stone and iron. anyway, looking at the great maps would give that bit of info too.

The members critiquing your map mean well, but I think they may be a little young and were somewhat blunt. But it's good advice. Play and study the best maps to gain some map making insight. It looks like you have some interesting ideas. You just need to learn to make greater use of some of the tools available to you in the editor. The more you work with the editor the better you will become. I hope you aren't too discouraged and will continue designing.

I agree with Sparrow. Everyone was where you are now. Nobody could be a pro right away. It takes time and effort. I think soon you'll be a professional designer.

Come take a visit to the forums and ask any questions or asks for terraining tips. It would be a shame if you left, you are only going to get better. With every map you make you'll improve. I advise that you learn the basics of terraining and then move onto more advanced stuff.
