Three years have passed since your homeland, Atlantis, was destroyed in an epic disaster. You and a few followers escaped in some fishing boats and, after a perilous voyage, landed on this strange western continent. Since then, you've been wandering the land searching for a place to call home. So far all you have found is barren terrain or hostile savages.
Now you have come across this valley. From the topography, you can tell it was created when a rock or ice dam burst, releasing a high level lake, perhaps caused by the same cataclysmic forces that sank your homeland. The torrent of water tore through the landscape and scoured out this place. Today there is plenty of land for farming and the area is teeming with game, so you have decided to stay for a while.
But now your High Priest has come to you with disturbing news: it seems that the nearby small stream, which issues straight from the cliff face, has magical qualities. When he tasted its water he had a vision from the gods. He says that they command you to settle here and establish a town. They also order you to gather stone to build a passageway to the source of the mysterious water, hidden deep within the mountain. They call it the Fountain of Youth. And, since nothing is done without an elaborate ceremony, you must hold a great feast for its dedication. He says that if you do this within five years, they will grant peace and prosperity to your people. Fail, and disaster and despair will be your lot.
All of this seems a little bit odd, but a quick taste of the water convinces you that he may be onto something. And besides, who can question the motives of the gods? Not wanting to upset them, you set to work...
About: This is the first of four missions taking place around the Fountain of Youth. They are small and short, designed to be played in sequence. Add the scores together to get a tally of your success!

Playability: 4
I enjoyed playing this map, I thoguht the objectives were relatively simple to meet and it wasn't too hectic - fairly relaxed actually.
I don't really like apple orchards so I kept my population at 16 and didn't bother making anymore :p
Balance: 4
Fairly good, If I'm not mistaken this is the one with no fires?
The time limit was abit long so I put it down to a 4 for this, I know - it's small stuff, but it's stuff like this that counts.
Creativity: 3
Nothing new here, I just liked the fact that you included a new and different type of storyline.
Map Design: 3
The map design was abit plain, but you used alot of terrain to good use so I applaus you for that ;)
Try using the equalizer tool more and use dirt unsparingly ;) Grass is also very effective on low ground :)
Story/Instructions: 5
The story was long and had good vocabulary, the storyline was original and for this I think it deserves a 5, maybe 4 - but this is my opinion.
Additional Comments:
Ok, nice map here. I'll review the others later ;) |
