Story: You are the youngest son in the proud family WolfenStoned. Your father has just left you one of his estates by the coast. This is your homeland where you grew up. Your older brother, a mean man, does not like this one bit. He wants all your fathers lands when he dies.
Your father wants you to prove yourself. He wants to se that you can manage and rule the land. You are to deliver 8000 gold to him. Your brother, known as the "Wolf", will not sit idle.
Just as you arrive at Castle WolfenStoned, you are ambushed. As you draw your sword, you think to yourself - if you survive this battle, it will not be the last of this feud !!
Mapinfo: The map size is of medium size. You will find both stone and iron at more than one place(hint). You have limited amount of wood as you start, how you manage that to get started is very important. I have put a lot of work on it and I hope it shows...
You need your iron supply and stone supply started fast !
There will be ONE fire.
The only marketplace advantage you have is wheat. The land does supply lots of space for food production.
I have testplayed it on normal, it was tuff, but I have managed to beat it. I think it is a fairly tuff map, but I guess that if you are an expert player you may succeed even on hard.
Hope you enjoy it - please review so that I know what to make better next time ....
Playability: Although the balance was a little off this map was fun to play. Because of all the shrines productivity was really low. But even with that hindrance there were times when there was little to do but sit and wait.
Balance: I played this map on normal and very hard and never lost. It just seemed too easy even on very hard. At that level I expect to lose often. A few more harrassment invasions early would have been nice, to take advantage of the uncompleted wall and to slow early production. The fire and the events were not difficult to overcome. Having the church, inns and good things up and running from the beginning kept popularity up even with low food and high taxes.
Creativity: pretty good. I liked the different yet obtainable victory conditions. the limitations at the market also forces you to keep an eye on all phases of production. The little fight at the very beginning was a nice touch. The scenario could have started out with some quick reinforcements for the bad guys.
Map design: This was a good map with limited resources that were out of the way. Unfortunately the entry point for the invasions kept them coming from only one direction. And they never really threatened the stone and iron production. There were some other nice touches like the dressed up wheat farms and chapel complete with cemetary.
Story: Did not really get into the story. It was OK but nothing special.
Although not terribly challenging, I liked the map and enjoyed playing it.
